Best Exhaust?
I'm thinking of revamping the whole exhaust system on my 96 lt1 (headers to muffler)
Since I never really buy exhaust I want to get everyone's opinion on their experiences.
Right now she has pacesetter headers and a hooker cat back. I like the hooker sound.
Any ideas?

You like a hooker sound, and you have a hooker catback... I don't get it?
That being said, I would get some SS ebay headers, never gonna get coated pacesetters again.

Well be prepared for a lot of opinions.
I like my B&B triflow catback, sounds nice at idle, and not to loud when you get on it.

i have gmmg... sounded great with mid-tubes and no cats with a 2/5 inch y pipe... (old setup).. new set up is a much stronger motor with long tubes 3 inch y-pipe... but it's really really loud... so loud i fear i might have to sell it for somting quieter to drive it on the street... iv had the hooker on my 93 and i loved it... nice and mild idle but screams on the top... i also had loudmouth and thought it was way to raspy for my taste... also think about if you go with a S/S kit... not all are S/S.... with the new lpp headers my whole system is s/s from front to back... should last for ever... what are you looking for though... loud all the time... or just on the top end... matts b&b is really quiet for what his car is... i cant belive its as quite as it is after hearing it with an x-pipe and bullets... are you running cats?

i personally like Magnaflow. Some people say they are too quiet, but on my SS with LTs and offroad y.... omg its loud. when i switch back to a catted Y i still dont expect it to get much quieter. I also have Magnaflow on my SKY and i think it does a great job making a turbo 4 cylinder sound good with a 3" catback setup.

i enjoy magnaflow as well. quiet when in the low rpms, louder when you hit the go pedal.
i would also look into stainless steel headers. i am going to opt for ebays. there are also the new batch of lpp's in a couple weeks time and kooks.

i like the sound of the hooker mufflers. as for headers....anything stainless should do fine. buy headers for life, not everytime you change tires

custom. I have a friend that does custom exhaust fabrication. Not crap at all. I can PM you info if you want. He isn't exactly the cheapest but his work is more than worth paying for

IMO-
More engine mods will make the car sound better. Try a cam change
A header swap will be a waste of money IMO. You can change the muffler for sound but don't bother changing the cat back. Most of them are virtually the same anyway.

If you like the sound then why bother changing? your system is fine for what you have and will certainly support additional mods, so why not put the money into other mods if you want?
I think the Hooker is probably only of the nicest sounding systems there is. Not to loud yet deep. Also like the dynotech systems. I have the Mufflex 4" with the spintech single out, I like it allot although allot of people don't like it?

I wanna say something.
I'm gonna put it out there.
If you like it, you can take it.
If you don't, send it right back.

then you are going to need to run cats... and poss the air pump still... maybe not the air pump... iv heard of people getting by without them... but dont hold me to that... if your running cats... i would go with somthing louder like gmmg or stainless works with lt's... should sound good with the cam and not to loud... my car has no cats so its like super loud wiht the gmmg... but sounds mean... but cats would quiet it down..

If it's not broke don't fix it. There's no need to change unless you're set on getting something different. No reason to swap headers, complete waste IMO unless there's a reason you HAVE to change them. As far as the muffler, I'll throw in a vote for Magnaflow if you really want to change from the Hooker(which sounds good too).
