AC Delete

I have a 96 Z28. I need to do head gaskets on it this spring and was wondering if I should keep the AC or not. It is need of repair but was just wondering what the consenus was on this?
If I do delete it can I keep the heat system?

Yup, the real downside, other than the lack of AC in the summer, will be the defrost for the windshield uses the AC system to dry the air I believe.

That being said, I have not regretted it once, and I am on two summers without AC now. Hard top car too.

removing it never adds to resale value and often reduces it. working AC never reduces resale value and sometimes adds to it.

and defrosters work plenty gooder with it. especially those cool rainy days.

You run no front sway bar on the street or is it a drag only car?

as much as i love ripping junk out of cars, i agree with this guy. if its a fun car you enjoy driving a lot, keep it and fix it when you can/want to. if its a rarely used street/strip car, every pound counts!

if i were doin head gaskets, i'd do heads/cam

If it sees more than an occasional track pass:
If it does not work, heave it. If it does work, keep it.

Otherwise repair and keep it. No sense in getting rid of it.

Personally, I would take it out. I don't need AC in my street / strip car. However, if you do take it out, I would say to do so carefully without cutting anything, and cap all of the fittings on the compressor and whatnot so you can always reinstall it or at least sell it as a working system.
