Cam

Ok, i am sorry to ask this question since it is probably going to create a long argument about what is better, but here we go. I am in the market,(not completely sold if i want one yet), for a cam setup. Now i do not intend on racing the car but i would like to get a little more umph for the car. the one i was looking at was the lt4 hot cam(i know i know). The reason being is the $635 price for the entire kit. I have a friend who is going to help with the install so that price is 0. I do not want to spend much more that than if possible. Is that the best route to go? I have lt headers, exhaust, cai, etc and have 3.42 gears waiting to go in. i know the lt4 is dated but i feel like for the price i am not going to find anything comparable. Thoughts? Again sorry for the ensuing problems of this topic.

the valve springs are barely good enough for a stock cam. i would suggest just getting whatever small cam you want, springs to match, rockers for your budget, push rods, lifters, timing set, and gaskets/fluids.

the hotcam comes with springs... id say if your not trying to set the world on fire and just want some extra power and a better sound out of the car the lt4 hotcam is gonna be the best value...

The hotcam kit for the price is great. The LT4 springs that come in that kit aren't that great. I am actually going to replace the valve springs on mine soon.
