T56 issues / questions

Having issues here, my first t56 so knowledge me:

going 1-6 is fine, downshiftng into 5th doesn't happen unless you rev match or enter the shifter into another gear first. Sometimes grinds even trying to get into 5th.

Reverse is quite tough to get into most of the time, as if the syncros weren't lined up same as with 5th, so I don't think it's the rev lockout sol.

I was told to shim the slave, I've never heard of doing that.

This is a fresh rebuilt trans as I've been told. It's a stage 2 clutch and lightweight flywheel.

Also is there a difference between 98 slave and 01-02 slave? Just trying to see because I'm out of work and this is now my DD.

It could be a syncro going bad for the 5th gear issue. I have had no issues with my 6speed but it is a 02 with 92,000 miles on it. I have a stage 2 clutch and flywheel also so I dont think that has anything to due with the issues your having.

Thats what sucks about getting a used car! You never know! My advise dont use 5th gear at all!
