wheres the best place to buy rotors and pads? napa?

also when i bought the car back in july the dealer said they just checked the pads and they had about 70% left on them. idk if thats a bad number or what al said its just brake dust. any tell tale signs to tell the difference between needing a replacement and just squeeking?

Do you tend to go easy on the brakes? If so and the brakes are not squeeling like a pig, go give a few heavy stops from ~40mph to almost stopping. If you glaze the rotors, you may get a squeel so give it a shot.

I grab my stuff from NAPA.

Brake dust will settle on hardware and rotors, all making a noise. You could pull the wheels, pull the rotors and wash them in soap and water with a soft brush, replace all the hardware, and put it all back together.

ok ill give that a shot. i do go really easy on the brakes but ive only had the car for the past ~4000 miles so i dont know how the previous owner treated it.

ok i may try that this weekend. like i said the dealer said the brakes were good but i dont know to what extent i would trust a dealer. but it seems as if the squeeking is coming from the front passenger side wheel.

if you are a little tight on money like most of us here, i would just do the dissassemble. . . . .

clean off the dust built up on the actual pad surface where it is caked (going to be in the center and along the edges)

Before assembly add some brake lube to the pad where it sits on the caliper bracket (the hooked looking part) along with putting some silcone or brake lube on the caliper boltsso they can slide nice and free

if you want i would scuff the pads before you reinstall them to with some 300 grit? samndpaper or whatever you can find laying around nothing precise is needed
