quick note to add to this mess of an off-topic thread...
speed does not generally make cars unsafe. especially a mere 114.
I direct your attention to the Autobahn and German roads/driving in general. Even the oldest domestic bmws there can sustain 100+ with no issues, AND the death rate on the autobahn is a fraction of our roads at 2.7 per billion as compared to the US at 4.5 per billion. What DOES make the difference is maintenance of older cars(road-worthiness is decided by a government agency), and upkeep of newer ones, design and construction or roads capable of allowing higher speeds(bends and banking), laws governing speed and lane choice, and most important of all, Drivers ed/Training(which costs around $2,000 and the test asks about mechanical knowledge of vehicles too).

But yes, with that said, for untrained drivers on roads not intended for higher speeds, populated with other drivers also maybe not the best trained in poorer maintained cars... You can make the argument that speed is dangerous. However the generalization that speed kills.... is flawed.

+ 1 on everything paul said... if the driving test was an actual test instead of an exercise, roads would be a LOT safer

1 deer, 1 squirrel, 1 blow out, 1 *******, 1 anything will quickly change that though. I understand your point and agree that many cars and drivers are not up to the task of sustained triple digit travel but I don't think changing that would make the roads safe for that high rate of travel. The roads were not built for that intention.

Find a lawyer that used to be a judge or prosecutor in that town or county, pay through your nose, probably get the 10 points to around 5, keep your license, learn when and where to speed.

could possibly do better than that.. When i went to court once they merged 2 separate incidents into 1 court date...

Incident 1: got into an accident by going through a red light
2 point careless (i think),
2 point failure to obey signal and a 5 point

Incident 2: some guy was lost and stopping at every street corner so apparently when i was stopping behind him i was:
5 point fallowing to closely (tailgating)

My dad paid the lawyer (idk how much i think like 800 per ticket) and before we went into court the judge was a substitute and luckily knew my judge personally (kiss on the cheek and all).

They combined my 4 points from the accident into 1 no point unsafe driving
and dropped the tailgaiting ticket

I paid the court fees.. came out to like 500 bucks... this was when i was 18 i think and Im 22 now
