Aftermarket PCM Setups
Looking to get some ideas on the options out there.
Needs to run a LT1/SBC and control a 4L60E.
Thoughts, opinions, lulz are welcome.

Its either, go cheap and re pin a harness from 1996, or spend a lot of money for a harness made for you.
So, I am looking to entertain other options, just curious to see what, dare I say, "race cars" run their EFI setups with.
However the 24x conversion is the more practical setup at the moment, but I am not really educated in other options, hence the thread.

Its not the amount of money thats the issue, I just have a problem paying like 850 for a harness, when an aftermarket one costs less.

I've gotta agree with the tuning accessibility for the 24x is hard to beat. Most of those aftermarket ecu's require you to wire in your own exterior lights, gauges, etc so its going to add up either way you go. Plus they are more driven towards user tuning, is that something you are getting into?

We have already discussed the EFI connection system in detail. I think re-pinning a good harness is the way to go IMO if you don't want to spend the coin for a custom made unit. The harness is certainly not expensive but to me, it was worth every penny as I can thankfully say everything plugged right in and worked from the get-go.
The only other system I have seen used frequently is the FAST XFI. I've only met a couple people using it and while the engine management is excellent, there were a lot of sacrifices made to make sure the basic stuff like gauges, lights, etc would work...or not work lol. I know a couple shops in NJ have installed the FAST XFI on fbodies so it may be worth a couple phone calls to get some info from people who have actually installed it. This system is also not cheap and not everyone tunes it.
IMO, I say you pick up the EFI system minus the harness, coils, etc and find a good 96+ harness to repin. You can have mine to do what you want with it.

Yea, I may call 24X next week and figure out what I need from them. Other than their vastly overpriced reluctor wheel and cam sensor, I think I need a few harness ends to wire into the 96 harness?

Don't forget about the timing cover. You will need either a 96/97 cover or go with one of the billet ones they have.
Maybe mention BLS and they will throw you a cookie? They seemed excited about the GMHTP feature so maybe they will knock off a few bucks.
