Silverado/Sierra guys inside
Any of you have to replace your bearing hub assembly? Im 99% sure mine is shot now at 128k..its pretty bad and grinding hard. Has GM updated the design or anything? How much was it to replace? Thanks!

depending where you get it from, and if its a quality part or china part, they range from $120-$300. I ve replace many of them, and are pretty easy to do.
Change both at the same time cuz normally the other one will go shortly after other that was replaced.
p.s. be glad you got over a 100k out of them.

I've replaced mine 2 or 3 times in the last 100k with cheap China stuff. Mine wear out a lot more because of the lift on my truck. Pretty easy job though.

I've used after-market hubs on customer cars and most of them have come with Timken bearings. From what I remember GM also uses Timken. Unless you can get it below list price I wouldn't pay for a GM hub.

Yea I replaced one at 85k on my tahoe. the truck came with 22's and one would not balance so I chalk it up to that. The other one now has 115k in it. Paid just under $150 IIRC

This. Timken ones are pretty solid, never had a problem putting them on customers cars, or selling them to customers.

Another vote for Timkens.....always used them when replacing hubs, never had an issue with them.

One on my Sierra went at 120K. . .replaced with a Napa unit, fine so far.

Replaced my explorer hubs with Timken, its all the rage in explorer land, My silverado's are still good and stock and my buddies 2" lifted '03 sierra is still riding on stock, both trucks have 130k-140k

i did both on my '03 z71 ext cab...i thought the brakes were grinding and infact it wasnt after $300 so that sucked..40 thousand miles on the new ones though and they are still oh soo smooth get timken...mine were bound up in a way that you couldnt move it with the wheel off but it would shake under load
