Nice looking car man!
Heres the deal on what to do to it.....
-put a stall in it (this will eliminate that "auto sad face", trust me)
-3:73 gears
The autos dont put near as hard as a beating on the rears so you should be good. That combo right here with an ok driver and some decent tires will give you a low 12 sec daily driver.

I could be wrong but I dont think they had specific gears. The autos came with either a 2:78 I think it was or the optional 3:23's You can check the sticker on the door to see if it came with the optional 3:23's (GU5 option code)

Auto LS1 cars came with 2:73 or 3:23s. Check the RPO codes for GU5 like mentioned above.

With the lack of a crazy overdrive like the 6 spds...you don't really want much higher number gears than 3.23s. I tach just over 2k at 65-70. Anything else would get pretty loud, annoying, and start to really hurt mileage.

With the automatic, a ported throttle body actually makes a big difference in the way it drives. The stock TB has a bit of a lag or hesitation before it kicks in. A ported TB will eliminate that little lag which makes it a lot better to drive and it might add around 5 hp.

Do you still have the EGR functioning right now? If so, the LS6 manifold does not have EGR provision so you would need to block off the EGR and tune it out. Regardless of the EGR, you might need a retune due to the added airflow but it should run.

will removing the egr system make it fail emissions ? what are the plus sides for taking the system out in favor of the ls6 manifold over other manifolds ?

It cleans up the engine bay and makes it look nicer.
But i took the EGR & AIR out of my car, along with the fuses and no codes ever popped up. It went through inspection fine. I think if the engine is running well you shouldn't have a problem.

You are either wrong about the gears, or someone switched them before you owned the car.

EDIT: the 93 LT1 did not have th option of 3:42's. only the 2:73's and 3:23's were avail.

I was wrong. From what I've found, the WS6 and SS autos all came with the 3:23's.

The 93 six speed cars had 2.73 or 3.23 depending on which transmission you got. There were two, the m28 and the m29.

Could have been an SLP install. But there's no RPO for it.
