Yeah and IIRC they came to the conclusion that the best option was the tailgate net. It still created the negative air bubble in the bed but lost the weight of the tailgate. The faster moving air flowing over the cab cant clear the gate without that air bubble and basically its all turned into downforce on the gate when its down. Those nets look like poop though IMO.
I thnk they also proved its better to have the air on rather then the windows down at highway speeds.
4.8 in my o3 hoe and I got around 21 last week ,but i got on it a bunch of times. Right lane, 65-70mph, and chillin behind 18wheelers on 295. No tune or CAI but i really want to do the fan swap. need to find a good writeup.

I just traded in my '10 Silverado 2500 for a '12 Crew Cab Z71 4x4 Colorado I-5. I was after more than just mileage though, my payments are over $100 a month cheaper on top of using half the fuel. I get 20-22 MPG mixed. The Colorado will tow 5k on the hitch, and 6k if you use a load distributing hitch.

how long do you plan on keeping the truck for?... because things such as lowering, lighter wheels/tires/brakes, full exhaust, etc take longer to justify but ultimately pay off

Just thought I'd update this thread. In the first 2 days I averaged 18.1 mpg with nothing changed other than being pretty cautious with traffic lights. My trip is 40 miles true highway and another 20 miles of 50+ mph roads with lights. I just ordered a magnaflow exhaust off of ebay for $200 shipped and will be swapping that out next week. For anyone interested, the awesome deal on the exhaust can be found here

Is that DIC numbers? Or hand calc?
Can the gassers store multiple tunes on the ECM?

I think there is still some winter gas at some of the stations as I have not really seen much of an increase yet. So wait another tank or 2 to see what your real summer mpg might be.

Hand calc, 99's don't have DIC.
I have another tank to calculate right now, but waiting until sunday night to fill up since gas seems to be going down right now and I dont need the truck until my Monday morning commute.

I did a fill up last week and drove down the Phils game in some stop and go traffic. Then drove to work all week which is a lot of stop and go with 35-45 mph so no overdrive. My gas mileage jumped at least 2.5 mpg so I think the winter gas is gone for sure. I think I would have gotten a little better if the traffic wasn't so bad heading down I95 to the game.

I hit 19 mpg on 1 tank last week. Then I changed from wawa gas to shell another tank to see if I got any better gas mileage. I managed 18.5 that tank with about 20-25 hard miles on it testing out the sound of the new exhaust. I'll fill up tomorrow after work and see what my true mileage is now. Would be nice to crack the 20 mpg mark one of these tanks

Cracked 20mpg last night filling up, 60/40 local/highway split. Cheap diesel at rest stops ftw.

Looks like shell gas actually lowered my mileage compared to whatever wawa is. Only got 18 mpg that tank.

Didn't fit at first because of the intermediate pipe from the flowmaster. I bought a new one off of summit for $50 and the exhaust went right on. It did take a little bit to get it to sit right and it is very close to the spare, but it fit.

tails are 2.5in. Intermediate pipe is 2.75 but the inlet on the muffler was 3in. the intermediate pipes are cheap enough I may go and buy the right one eventually.

I definitely think the winter gas is gone. Last fill up I got 23 MPG in the truck, all city no highway as usual

Agreed. My AWD G35 went from 16 mpg up to 17.5 on the last tank. My commute is all local roads, with heavy stop and go traffic down by the GWB. And I'm not always a complete angel taking off from stoplights and such.

I figured I would add to this thread. I took the ported TB off my truck back in Mar-Apr time frame to try and sell it. So far this summer, I've been towing the skiff around quite a bit and noticed my mileage has been much lower. I've been averaging around 15-16 mpg most of the summer. I just put the ported TB back on last week and filled up Thursday. Did some short distance towing on Friday, drove around locally a bit and ran down to the beach Sunday. I filled up last night and my mileage was 17.6 mpg. I've done some other weeks this summer with a beach trip and never saw more than 16.5 mpg so I'm thinking the ported TB might be making a bigger difference than I had expected.

Trying out a purolator drop in air filter, not a dry filter like stock, they come oiled, which was not my first choice, but we shall see how it does. No MAF codes yet.
Also finally started throwing some fuel additive in, hoping to fix a injector (dreaming) and maybe get another mpg. Would be awesome to see some 21-23mpg range. Hopefully before winter fuel comes round and the temps drop off a lot more that may happen.

I may have to throw a PP TB on mine and see what I'm getting. After I made this thread I've been stuck in the 17mpg range all summer.

You throw 1 part mix oil in to a full tank. that helps a lot and quiets down the engine. The new diesel gas doesn't have nearly enough lubricating properties. I guy I work with puts 2 stroke oil in his d-max with every fill up
