yea a "Ford GT", how silly...
lets thinks about the ssR truck from a few years ago.
regardless, full names if previously used can give the wrong connotation. remember the cadillac catera? last made in '02... or was it... what do you think CTS stands for.
ill continue later ... teacher is starting to talk.

LOL I forgot about that car, stupid ford To nastyTroll, now that car is the definition of a Halo car.
And the ssr, why bring up that mess. makes the GTO look like a rousing success! SSR might be proof why SS is a dumb name.

Wouldn't be the first time the SS designation was used for a car. Last time, it was a concept.

That thing is a mayo sandwich on two slices of wonder bread with the crust cut off, served with a glass of milk bland, but he has the balls to call the SS "boring"?
It's cute.

lol exotic super car? trolling to be trolling? ass to be an ass? wow my guess is that my opinions on this car have given you the red ass. I dont care about the interior modifications, i dont need all the bells and whistles. what im not fine with is that gm hyped this car up and delivered another lame me too front clip.
My whole fascination with the Lumina SS front end is that it destinctly reminds me of what a chevy performance car looks like. wide open mouth, low chin squeezed in between some headlights and low parking lamps. Some may not like the cheese wedge shape of the old z28's, z24's and z26's but I do and I was hoping this would be along the same lines of heritage thats carried out through the years.

Thats my point. Im actually in the market for the damn car. Ive been waiting for the reveal of this damn car. Im going to be buying my first brand new sports car and I want to make sure what I buy is the total package of what I want. If I wanted a LS3 RWD car with bland looks I'd already be the owner of a Pontiac G8. instead I was holding out for the ''4 door corvette'' gm promised which was going to be the basis for the next chevy NASCAR.
in all reality i was hoping for at least something Monte Carlo esque looking.
I just dont see how GM can go from this...
to this...

You really can't? Top looks like any generic car from the 90's. Bottom looks modern.

Bottom looks like a modern rental car! Top one looks like a G8 without the hood. Much more sporty then the bottom. If you were to ask me which one of those to I would name SS, it would be the top one.

Prime example of different strokes.
At quick glances, I saw a Cobalt SS with the eBay package. To my eyes, the red car looks cheap and too reminiscent of the old image that GM is trying to shake. The new one looks smooth, refined and professional--Something you would drive to the office, romp on, and later take as an evening car. The red --again to me-- doesn't look the part.

There trying to get rid of there image from the 90's were they actually sold cars to there new image were they went bankrupt? GM cars in the 90's were cheap, reliable, and looked good... GM cars today are nicer, More expensive, and reliable.
Thats the difference I see between my 2002 T/A and my 2009 G8. The G8 is a much better made car but cost more then my T/A which was a cheaper made car but cost less and sold better.
I heard that these new Chevy SS are gonna be around 40,000.
BTW GM sold over 1,000,000 Colbolts since 2004. Thats pretty damn good in my opinion.

I think it's really tough to see what they are trying to do.
What's better?
Car A, which appeals to enthusiasts idea of "looks" and costs $45k and sells 20,000 cars a year
Car B, which looks more "modern" but is a bit stodgy to gearheads, costs $35k, and sells 50,000 cars.
I think Car B is better for GM, and looks like what we may be getting.
I do not care if it looks like a rental car as long as I can get my hands on it and it's a strong performer. The Superbird looked aggressive and it sold like a steaming fat pile of whale ****.

You are comparing a G8 to a ratty 4th gen?
It should be fairly obvious the cheaper car sold better, it was sold for longer...
Apples to apples here at least..

so how many of you guys that actual like it are going to be buying one?
exactly my point.
they can appeal to the masses all they want, but if they have a low volume car, geared towards enthusiasts and named the Super Sport...youd expect it to be at least slightly sporty. if they were just gonna rebadge the car and bring it over, then how come for the last few years theyve been saying they couldnt do exactly that when the g8 died.

If it gets decent enough mileage numbers and they don't gouge pricing I will put my money where my mouth is.

If that's their goal then they will have problems. I was under the impression that this is supposed to be a full sized American sports coupe. Trying to hang with the 5 series crowd and take a bite out of that apple.

Nasty, that sounds a lot like the BiGal excuse as to why our opinions do not count.
Can't afford it, so your view is null.
It looks modern and not that bad, for a 4 door family sedan I think it will sell well to normal people who may want a lil pep in their car. The small car enthusiast niche market is a horrible thing to base your marketing on.

actually im pretty sure i read somewhere that theyre only planning on importing a small volume of these cars. so if theyre trying to sell a low number of vehicles to appease the enthusiasts...why are they showing the car with a me too front end?

I am comparing a Pontiac to another Pontiac. Fine I will compare the G8 to my old 96 Grand Prix. The Grand Prix was cheaper but it was reliable and sold a ton more then my 09 G8 which was better made but more expensive. People didnt care that the car had a V8 motor in it when it costs 30,000+, when normal people can get a Sonata for 20,000. If people had a choice between a 20,000 Grand Prix or a 20,000 Hyndai then its a tougher decision.

Might just be to test the waters though. I know GM is known for being as strategic as a game of Battleship but there's got to be more going on here.

no my point is that while the masses may like the car and think its modern and sleek...i keep reading that this is going to be a low import run per year with sales expectations somewhere around 10-20k units or something, might even be lower. why make a low production enthusiasts car and gear it towards the masses. i just dont understand that logic
