whats it worth

i have an 04 gmc sierra 2500hd sle extended cab short bed. problem is that the block is cracked(6.0l iron block gas). everything has 105000 miles on it. trans is good. never had a check engine light. brand new tires. no rust on the body. i have the kit to replace the brake lines with all stainless lines. i love this truck and ive owned it since 2006(17k miles). my problem is that im not sure if i should get a long block for it and keep it, or sell it as is, or just part it out and get a new truck. what do you guys thing the truck it worth with the cracked block. im not to sure what to do. any one know a good place to get a new complete engine or long block. any help would be great.

I would get another long block and keep it, there are plenty on ebay. I would just lean toward buying one from a business rather than a private seller.

Edit: I have noticed from looking (I'm always browsing!) the prices of used Trucks have gone up because of the high price tags on new ones. Do your research.

mc73nova trust me, i know the cost of used trucks. ive been considering a duramax truck but the pricing is absolutely insane. i will prob end up fixing it. it hasnt cost me a penny(outside of wear stuff) in the past 7 years so i cant really complain. plus i truly love this truck. i think its the best body style gmc made. its looking like i can get a complete engine from gm for about 5grand. lucky i have a work truck to drive during the week but i dont want to miss out on the racing season. ill have to stop by the local dealer on Monday.

I got my ls6 from here. they are a real gm dealer. Shipping wasn't too bad for my engine.

The site says the core charge is included so 4300 is the basic cost plus shipping. if you block was ok, which it isn't, obviously it'd be 600 less. That is for a brand NEW engine. and if you look at their other engines, you'll see reman. versions are available too.

Repair it. I was in the market for a used truck recently but finally settled on a '12 w/6k miles on it frankly because everything I found +'05 was 19k w/100k miles. It wasn't worth me spending that much on a used truck when the one I found was a few bucks (well more than a few) more. Your truck in running condition w/those miles would still be advertised for around 10-12k easy.

If your looking for a 6.0, I got an lq9 sitting at my work for sale. Pulled out of an escalade because a valve spring broke.

That I'm not sure of. I may be able to see if an lq4 is sitting in the back. Pm me your truck info, and I'll see if one of the lq4's match and are good. I know the lq9's make 345hp stock, so there's some extra get up in it.

You can build yourself something nicer for less then what a dealer is going to charge you for stock stuff.

i know. my biggest problem is down time. im trying to keep it to a minimum. i dont want to be at the mercy of a machine shop. if i can get a long block it will be up and running in a matter of hours
