GM/ LS ECU pro/ tuner wanted

Looking for someone that knows & understands the ins & outs of GM ecu's. Preferable close to northern NJ but that is not major concern at this point. What makes them tick, what types of inputs are required, ect. I am familiar with EFI systems and principles, just haven't dealt with GM/ LS based ECU's.

This is for a project I am planning which in short will hopefully use a GM ecu to manage an old school motor. Would like to avoid using an aftermarket system if possible. I like using over the counter parts. Why or why not cant this be done? ECU has no idea what the application is and principles of the internal combustion engine havent changed in over 100 years last I checked.

I have derived plans to provide crank & cam position sensors, IAC, TPS, MAP, coolant temp, ect. Wiring, intake, throttle body, injectors are loosely selected or obtained at this point. So I am down to researching the GM ECU further in depth.

If a sponsor steps up, I would not mind purchasing parts from them and they would more than likely dyno tune the car. Time frame is build system over winter and have car road worthy by spring. Car is currently a finished pro-touring 78 T/A w/ Pontiac engine that I am upgrading the old Holley Projection 4i system to a modern multiport system as current EFI system is not capable of feeding the engine. It was a good start but now its time to step up. Also want to run distributorless ignition. Some of you know of or have seen the car.

I'm all ears.

EFIlive does have some stuff that will help the build. Still would need a local place to tune it should I run into issue.

will contact the above references as well.

Building the system is not the issue. I can do that. Its deciding which ECU to use. I'd like to stay OE if possible. Just researching the pros and cons of each. At this point, it has been brought to my attention that the GM units have emission tables that may get in the way or affect idle and part throttle operation. The question being, 'How much / bad is/will this affect the tune' ? Being only basic engine sensors will be utilized in this application w/o emission equipment, is this aconcern. I know of a few 4th gens that have lots of their emission equipment removed and done appear to have any running issues.

What ECM does the E-rod LS use? COPO camaros? Car Craft Jan '14 states the COPC is a Holley unit. Can this be confirmed?

I run the LS1 PCM, -0411 and TTP tunes it for me.

Essentially the same setup you want, basic engine and trans management, no distributor and coil packs.

LT1 motor, 80e trans, turbo, etc.. No emissions stuff what so ever, and it does fine.

E-rod uses a non tunable GM ECM (I think not tunable) and the Copo uses the Holley

Yeah they are mostly better oriented which means high dollar.. But good work from what I have heard. Then might not want to do anything for a frankenstien kind of build though. I know for a fact they only to LS tuning since I spoke with them a couple years ago. Things could have changed but I doubt it.
