Spring Englishtown swapmeet...

Im debating if I should go as a vendor this year. I went about 10 years ago and did ok. As people have mentioned, the quality of the stuff has gone down hill. I figure since I have a bunch of good parts I may do better than last time.

Should I even bother going? or is it a waste for vendors now too?

My only issue is that id need to rent or borrow an enclosed trailer to bring my stuff down. i do not plan on staying down there each night. Id go Friday morning early and come home each night. I wouldn't trust my open trailer down there with parts accessible if im not there.

I think i had a 20x 20 spot last time I went and i don't think it would be enough this time.

Anyone thinking of selling stuff and want to join together? lol

Its crap. When we were there in spring, the scumbags behind us were selling what seemed to be random junk bolts. Pallets of them and it was a total mess. Across from us was selling trashpicked plumbing parts. The buyers wanted everything for free. And when we dropped our prices close to free, they didnt buy anyways.

I did the Swapmeet first time last fall and while we did well selling wheels and detailing supplies, it was a eye opener.

I ended up getting a spot to the left at the noise wall at the start of the track on the spectator side, which was good because the crowds had to walk past me to get to the other side. Traffic was awesome due to location honestly.

But I was across from these bunch of 20 something clowns who had a setup you had to see to believe. 4 couches, bonfire, trailer used for beer pong (I **** you not), and only about 6 crappy 4x4 items to sell. Needless to say there were about 10 of these idiots and they had enough beer for a large frat party. They were cool with us, but never went to sleep - but at least they slept until 12. Sunday they smashed all the stuff they brought (it was unsellable anyway) so there was a pile of mashed up junk. We did get some free beers from them and seemed to magically not attract the crack RP security detail.

In terms of customers - mixed bag as we were selling new items. I managed to sell an exhaust system, wheels and tires, and several bins of detailing supplies. I did get alot of complaints about pricing being too high - funny considering my pricing includes sales tax and is lower than mail order direct, they should just STFU. Best part was watching all the freaking hillbillies go by with trashed parts piled up in everything from garbage cans to wheelchairs. Was a horror show at best.

Doing it again in the spring - but just the detailing supplies and some small items.

^ I agree. I went and the only thing I bought was great priced detailing products...a lot of junk there...some 4th gen stuff but run of the mill stuff one could fine on c/l if needed.

I am trying to get to Cowtown (Woodstown, salem co) swap meet this year (Sunday, march 23) they limit vendors to car parts or car related. Was there once long ago, but been trying to go back, but the weather is iffy in march. Still going to E-town, ya never know what you are going to find. A friday at E-town is better than a day at work!

Carlisle also claims that they are going to start enforcing the car stuff only rules again now that participation has picked back up. Hopefully they go back to kicking out all the craft fair and yard sale crap

That is a good thing in my eyes.

If they did that at E-Town, it would be empty. Around my spot in the fall there was a guy selling kid's bikes, a woman selling candles, empty spots, and a whole bunch of folks with nothing to sell (party time!).

It was a lot better in the fall then it has been of recent. I will probably go but mostly to be hanging out with a couple buddies at their spot. I can get pretty much anything I need any other time of the year

Aside from all the junk being sold, we did really well there. I personally sold over $1000 worth of stuff, got rid of almost everything I didn't want to bring home. As a buyer its pretty hit and miss, as a seller you're dealing with stupid people all day. But we still had a good time and made some decent money, so it wasn't all bad!
