Does anyone here have any expeirance with installing a sunroof after the fact on a car that did not have it?
I'm thinking of adding to my truck since I'm not going to buy a $70k Denali...

Maybe some of the older guys have insight on this...

 Good? Bad? Run away?

absolutely not, OEM can't get a sunroof right I dont think an aftermarket one is going to be any better designed. After working for a dealer I will never own a car with a convertible or sunroof top. They leak, wind noise, rattle, break. recently I had a customer leave one open and had to replace all the carpet in the car along with the seat leather.
in my opinion I would stay for away, but its very biased from what I see at the OEM level.

The only person I can ever remember having any level of success installing an aftermarket sunroof was j0n several years ago. Though I am not sure what the long term results were.
Pretty sure he posted about it in one of the tech forums.

 | This. The only problem being resale, really. The only rattle I have in my Saab is the trim for the sunroof and has been there since day 1.

I had an aftermarket ASC sunroof installed many years ago on a Maxima by these guys - http://www.electricsunroof.com/ - they're up here in Bergen County, but do excellent work. They also were able to fix the Astroroof on my old Cutlass, and you know how notorious those are for leaking!

I needed a repair done on the bolster in the TA, brought the car there, showed them, told me they were to busy and to call back in a month, did that, told me another month, called back again, told me another month, called back a few months later and they told me they couldn't (weren't interested in) doing it.

Im sure you're not looking for a pop up but I will say I replaced my astro roof in my 442 with a high quality pop up with teflon seals. Never leaked a fuggin drop in 4 years. I honestly think this "stay away from sunroofs" stigma is just old jargon.
But remember you get what you pay for.
