5.3 or 6.0 take out
arp rod bolts
arp head studs
ls9 gaskets
twin 340's in-tank
88mm turbo

and ENJOY!!!!

or staying with sbc:
4bolt 350
brodix M2 heads & cam (track heads ported by m2 racing
750 w/venturi or 850 carb
= 500 @ fly
than add a 150hp shot of the good stuff on it. (wet kit preferbly)

Seriously. Wtf do you really want? Don't just say 500hp or something stupid. What do you really want from the car? What do you want it to do? How much are you really willing to spend? Honestly a mild heads/cam gen III is lots of fun and capable of high 10s or quicker in the 1/4 if the car is geared towards that. If you want to road race/autox, well you'd want something with power in the rpm range you'll be in. Is your trans even built? 400hp will ruin it sooner or later and you'll be $2-3k having it built. What rear is in the car? We all know how that goes. What has been done to the suspension? Why are you so afraid of efi? Sure its a bit of money to retrofit a gen III efi/computer system into your car but it is definitely worth it.

450 is attainable and if parts are chosen properly, very streetable. Lots of other guys on here are better than me at gen III setups so I'll let them tell you what works best. With 10k, you can probably just about do a fuel injected swap with a premade speartech harness, stainless longtube headers specific for a gen III in a 3rd gen, and gauges to wrap it all up.

Seriously tried to read that but got lost halfway through ...

So... You want a street strip car, want 450 hp roughly, and you have 7 grand into the car already?

What Brakes are 5,000 dollars?

That is honestly most likely too much rear brake. There are so many better options for about four thousand cheaper anyway

Holy crap, aside from hawks horrible price inflation, theres much cheaper and still very practical alternatives.
