Surgery itself was Dec 16. |  sorry to hear that.  james is a slow healer, or were there complications?  i am categorized as a "failed back surgery syndrome" patient, so i know a bit about the pain and the ways to control it.  i have an electrical spinal stimulator implanted in my back.  it's kind of like a TENS unit, but it's inside instead of outside.  i have much more control over it, too.

 |  We're not sure, actually. The surgery site itself is fine based on the Xrays. He's usually a very good healer, and has a high pain tolerance. But I think, having waited 3 months before having the surgery (not on purpose, but time it took to diagnose the issue, then find a competent doctor to do the surgery, then schedule it, took 3 months from the car accident) didn't help. So he had already lost a lot of mobility and strength. And having been in pain since June/July (from the stomach issues and hernia surgery), he's beat. 
 
The doctor basically said that it may be partially because he's been on restrictions that he hasn't been using some of the muscles. And as they've been targeted in PT, he's regressed a bit. So he lifted most restrictions to hopefully start using those muscles again and hopefully he'll get better. But who knows.
