new tires, rims are pitting
i have needed tires for awhile now, i got about 50,000 out of my bfg g-force sport tires. i ordered the same and they sent the sport 2, so far they seem like a nice tire, i haven't put that many miles on them yet. while i was mounting and balancing them i noticed that my rims had pitting along the bead. i have seen this before years ago when i worked at a tire store, i figured the metals used would have improved or is it the south jersey road salts and spray they use now?
the rims are the ss 17x9.5's, and they do hold air. i do like them but i have been wanting a rim with a dish or bigger lip i just cant decide which ones.
has anyone else noticed this problem or been made aware when getting new tires? i do know there are companies that could probably fix them, but i would still need rims.
anyway, for those getting new tires keep an eye out for this problem.

You are talking inside the rim? Very common. Knock it off with a wire brush or surfacing disk.

sorry i cant take pictures, i forgot how much of a pain it was to change these tires. ( low profile) i did scuff the bead area with a brush, i am just amazed that rims still do this. i try to keep them clean but i guess crap still gets in there somehow. at least i know im not the only one with this, oh well i guess ill have to save for some new rims.

You don't need new rims. When I mount new tires, I run a 3M disk and some steel wool over the bead and make them smooth. Sure, it takes about an hour for all 4 rims but to me it's well worth the time and effort.

The best is when the corrosion bonds the rims to the hubs

ive been there done that with some older cars, rust on rust on a car that sat for 20 years is a lot of fun, especially on a cold evening and you figured it would only take a few. you forgot your floor jack and have to use the bumper jack that keeps sinking and sliding, the lugs are rusted on.
