Problem with V6

It's about that time for a new exhaust. I have a 92 RS V6 3.1 L. I'm trying to find a nice exhaust for it but everywhere I look they either don't have it for 92's at all or if they do it's for the V8 5.0L and 5.7L engines. Anyone know of anybody in the Toms River area that sells exhausts that'll fit my car? Thanks in advanced.

Jen

your car is just like any other 3rd gen. regardless of which engine came in the car the exhaust routing is the same.
look up the exhaust guys on this board. they may have something you can use in stock or may be able to put something together for you. a nice 2.5inch mid pipe with a performance muffler woudl prolly wake your car up nicely.

later

I have a brand new Imco dual exhaust muffler complete with tail pipes that would work well on your car. I am asking $75 for the muffler. I have this same exact muffler on my sister's V6 92RS and it sounds great.

Thanks for the help. After some more searching I finally found a company to makes an aftermarket one specifically for my car. It's a Dynomax. Never bought anything from them, so we'll see how it goes.

Which Dynomax system is it? I wouldn't go with the just for the reason that they say they have a cat-back for your exact car. All thirdgen exhausts are routed the same way. My '85 2.8L had a catback for a 5.0L on it, and it bolted up perfectly.

It's the Super Turbo System. But I figure I'm also not using it to race or anything really, I just don't wanna get the stock system. So for my purposes, I'm hoping this will be fine.

The beauty of 3rd and 4th gens... exhaust routing is the same. You can pick up a 4th gen catback and it will fit with only minor modifications... pick up a high-flow cat while youre at it

Ugh....that car was a money pit. Bought it with a blown head gasket, fixed that myself. Then less than a month after that it lost a main bearing, so I decided to rebuild a 2.8. I was 17, and obviously not too bright. After buying a crank, having the rods reconditioned, etc - the motor ran for almost 2 months before developing rod knock. Drove it for another 6 months. Dad and I took it apart, found out that one of the oiling passages in the block was completely blocked off, and that's what caused all the trouble. Sold the car for $150 to some drug dealer I went to high school with. (He sat outside for 45 minutes trying to start it - the battery was disconnected, the oil pan wasn't on, and the motor hadn't had oil in it for 3 months.)
