4 years later....

I'm very surprised nobody has made a post about this. We all know what today is, we all know what happened. Apparently it's starting to fade from memory. I for one will never forget.

Here is a photo I took in 2003, I might go to Hoboken again tonight if I find out they're doing the tribute lights again.

My hearts will still go out to the families of those who perished.

I work right across the river from the NYC skyline, and tonight I stared at the tribute lights and felt very angry and empty at the same time...
Plus my wedding annv. is 9-11, and needless to say we haven't really celebrated it with a whole lotta gusto since the attack.
Never forget, never forgive is my motto!

Well with Katrina there has been a more urgent news coverage than a tribute. I've seen plenty of tribute and remember it every year because my brothers b-day is on the 13th. Yes he was born on Friday the 13th and has been a PITA ever since.

strange enough coincidence, my parents were also married on 9-11.

4 years, and i'm still angry as hell. If it were up to me, there wouldn't be a Middle East. We would have pumped out all the oil by now, and then nuked the hell out of the area until nothing was left. Problem solved.

i've never been as mad in my entire life as i was on that day. I seriously considered enlisting, just so I could go and have some revenge.

I wish they showed more coverage about it on the News to be honest. It gets people fired up when they see those images from 9/11, and a break from Katrina would be a bit nice and get the patriotism flowing again.

I went to the WTC site last night around 1... there were still a lot of people around. Very solemn, very powerful to be down there.

I was completely f'd up that day... I had been laid off from my job downtown a couple of months earlier and had (and still have thankfully) a bunch of friends that work down there... many frantic phone calls were made....

ugh...

Bob (to army recruiter): "Yes, I'd like to re-enlist."
Army Recruiter: "Um, sir, you're too old and fat."
Bob: "Tell me something I don't know... it was worth a try anyway!"

lJust joshin you, Bob!! I only kid cause I'm not exactly Mr. Slim myself, as you pointed out to me at the grease trucks. lol

I was actually on my way back from the Mid-East the night of the 11th and they let us fly right up the hudson witbin a mile or so of the lights. very impressive, we were at 10,000 feet and they were still projecting WAY above us. I still remember flying on the 12th when we (the military) were the only planes in the air, very eerie feeling listening to all the silence on the radios. So many people have already forgotten the events of that day (I.E. the MEDIA PIGS) and even more try to ignore it. Bottom line is nobody should ever hide or forget what happened that day. In the last 4 years I have spent more time in the Mid-East then my own house, would be nice if all the tree huggers and anti-bush people would give some acknowledgement to the people living and dying over there instead of arguing about politics. I'm off my soap box now, never forget.

just because there was no post does not mean people are not thinking about it. i know i was. i still remember vividly my activities that day in reaction to what happened. i also tried to enlist, but they wouldn't accept me with my back. i want payback for what happened. having sad-ham here is nice, but i want been-hiding's head on a stick. i will never forget or forgive. i watched the tv program on Discovery about the people who fought back on flight 93. while we will never know exactly what happened, it bolsters my faith in americans that can rise to adversity knowing they are going to die anyway, but averting the plans of the hijackers. who knows where they were headed exactly, or how many people's lives were saved by their actions. i salute them.

i participated in a cruise. I drove from Syracuse NY, to baltimore MD for the weekend. On sunday, myself and a few other members from camarov6.com participated in the ride for pride. We started in Fort Hunt Park in DC made a lap around the beltway and ended up at the Pentagon. I have a few pics mixed in with other pics from the weekend.

The Ride for Pride has turned into quite the event, so I've heard. I plan on making the trip next year.....
