Atlantic City Car Auction
http://www.acclassiccars.com/events.html
February 23-26, Atlantic City, NJ.
Came across a listing for a 1969 Trans Am convertable. There were only 8 made. The listing has a poor photo of it, but is clearly a vert.
EDIT: Vert pic. http://www.acclassiccars.com/images/vehicles/1809.jpg

Wanted this - , but ended up with this - for free. Can't argue with free.

i'm not mocking the trans am, nor you going to check it out, but it's amazing how they'll spend so many dollars making the top look nice. new paint, new convertible top, spiffy interior... and the frame rails are rotting out from underneath, you have to be careful where you step or you'll be big pimping flintstones' style...
i saw one yesterday that the guy had listed for 40. i ended up offering him 12,5 and he got all bent outta shape. i told him how i saw it, and then he said something about NADA prices them out this way. that's when i really ripped into him. the high end of NADA pricing is for recently completed restorations and WELL MAINTAINED originals. not just because you went to maaco and spent $500 for them to buff it out. i had him lay on the floor next to me while i pointed out all of the dangerous rust underneath. he got it, but i don't think that will keep him from selling it to some doofus for 40k. there's a fool born every minute.
sorry, i kinda got off on a tangent there. all i am saying is make sure you check those cars out. get under, in, on - whatever you have to do to make sure it's a safe car.

I was there today... some damn nice cars there! And some junk too... there was a 15k mile 82 Camaro Pace car in MINT condition, a somewhat beat 89 TTA, two 69 Trans Ams, and alot of other cool stuff. Ive got some pics Ill try to post shortly.

I was there today too. That 82 Pace Car was far from MINT. The paint was all banged up on it when you got up close. All kinds of nicks and dead spots in the clear. Definitey some good stuff but overall the quality of 80% of the cars was "driver quality". Some sweet street rods this year though.

i think it's interesting that two people saw the same car (presumably) and one thought it was mint and the other picked it apart. i would expect them to be driver quality, but i bet the owners are looking for top dollar just like my example up top.
people have been saying even the quality of BJ cars is down slightly. they can't all be concours quality.

Ok maybe I exagerated when I said "MINT" but it was in VERY good condition considering. I didnt go over it with a fine tooth comb, just glances at it quickly and was surprised to see one so clean.

If anyone was around for the auction and found out the selling price of the 69 TA's I'd like to know what they went for. Last AC show had one sold for 103k, and there was a little worry that it would set the price for the car. Fortunately it didn't and to my knowledge they are still going in the 70's.
Thanks.
