w00t.. found new ls1 blocks
I just found a source to buy new LS1 blocks at a very reasonable price... (new bare 2004 blocks, which are the LS6 blocks).
now i can rebuild my "original" SS motor from the parts i have laying around.
Now, the questions is...what car to stick it in....

matt, no, lol
kasey, hmm didnt know i had an accord...
I do have the 85 iroc and the 79 vette... but the iroc will remain a T5 car so thats out... hmm, a carbed ls1 in the 79 vette, that would be sweet... but then what would i do with the 96 LT1(6,609 org. miles) thats in it currently...

i wish but 1st gens are out of my reach, way too much for even a rotted shell.
as of now, i'll just build the longblock with remaining parts from my '01 motor(lifters, rockers, heads, crankshaft, pistons), then throw in some LS6 parts i also have(camshaft, valvesprings, pushrods, oil pump), All i'd still need to buy are gaskets, rings and bearings. As for rods, i have a set from a '00 ls1 i could use, and brand new '03 rodbolts.
As for carb vs fuel injection, i have a 00 LS1 intake, fuelrail, and harness, so all id need would be an ecm and a TB. And in the future i may get a 90/90 for my SS and then i'd swap my LS6 and ported tb to this motor, IF i went Fuel Inj. Id consider carb'd just to be different.
But, like i said, i'll just put the longblock together for now and figure out fuel delivery whenever i have a definate home for the motor, and this one would get sprayed for sure, hehe.
EDIT****....hmmm... i wonder what a 2wd lowered 95 bronco with a LS1 on NOS would be like... I got some measurememnts to make....

thats IF it was fully intact... after the fire a lot has already came out...
it weighs less than a basic pickup, and with the ls1 in it and a th350, take off a bunch more weight i.e. rear seat/hardtop, no electronics or a/c... and i think even given its size.. with an ls1 with the ls6 cam, full exhaust and a 125 shot of N2O, i bet itd still move enough to give most people a hell of a run. AND who would expect it with stock exterior and wheels.
