Possibly selling SS, would like advice
Well I'm seriously considering selling my SS. I'm looking at getting a 02-04 C5 vette in the lower 20k/mi range (not a Z06). I've always wanted a vette and I'm starting to really look at them and would like to get one in the next year or so possibly. However if i decide to keep the car I'd like to get done heads, headers, cam, and a few other boltons. So what should I do: keep the SS or look at a C5? If I sell the SS how much should I ask. I want to go a little high so I have room to negociate. Here is what is done to it:
2001 Chevy Camaro SS in sunset orange metallic
-SLP Camaro SS grille
-15% tint on back window
-NGK Uridium sparkplugs
-MSD sparkplug wires
-SLP lid
-K&N drop-in filter
-SLP loudmouth exhaust
-3.73 gears
-Powerslot rotors
-Raybestos ceramic pads
-17x9.5 American Racing Torque Thrust II's
-275x40x17 BFG G-Force KDW tires
-Full PCM tune with HPTuners
-Rebuilt transmission to include:
-Pro Torque 9.5" 2800 stall lock-up torque converter
-Trans cooler
-Alto wide 2-4 band
-Raybestos 2-pak 3-4 clutch
-Transgo shift kit
-Billet 1-2 and 4th servos
-H/D sunshell

go test drive a few C5's and see how you feel about it then. Corvettes are amazing cars, but they are more expensive to work on than F-bodies.

i'm not really beat off a quick sell or parting it out, i'll wait a little extra time to get what i want. I'd really like to get 17k for it.
what does the avatar have to do with my car being an auto?

Keep the SS.. With a bilstein suspension it will out handle every C5 vette other then a Z06. Vettes are a dime a dozen. Also most Fbodies are quicker.
You will miss the camaro the minute you sell it. The main reason I keep the 10th. We went to Kerbeck this year and all the salesmen came out and took pictures.. Nuff said.
PS - if you are selling it.. 16-17K max maybe less. Don't even think about a trade-in unless you want to be very insulted.

bilstein FTL. a bilstein setup wont make a fbod handle or ride like a corvette.

Wrong it has been proven time and time (SLP Bilstien set up) handles better then a C5 at the track. (pro driver took both cars out on a skid pad test run and track run and the SS handled better) not by much but it did.
A fact GM did not want to get out but ut did.

grip is one thing, because the slp bilstein setup also had bfg kd tires which are second to only God. the vette runs crap runflat tires. we're also not taking into account road feel and ride quality.
you can make a fbody handle better then a stock vette. bilstein is not the best, no where near actually. but then again you have a modded car against a stock car

SS and Firehawks are not modded.. You could of purchased it from GM set up like that, Could of also got the 1LE setup too. So its Stock vs Stock. Point is you can have a cheaper nicer car that will run as well if not better then a C5 Vette. Plus you will get more attention from a nice Fbody vs a C5 anyday.

I'm in the same boat as you man, I'm highly thinking of ditching the Z for a C5.

You're kidding me right? Stock for stock and mod for mod the vette will be quicker if all things are equal.
I personally witness back in the beginning of the year the record the for the fastest bone stock C5 get broken at Atco. 12.6x something, somewhere around there. Of course it was a 6speed but still...NO fbody is anywhere close to that stock...also that car is a rare thing(obviously) but mod for mod a vette will be faster

Fresh off the trailer I ran 13.0 a/4 a good driver with a M6 has run low 12.6's stock.
When it comes to Vette vs Fbody "stock" you will get more out of the Fbody in the 1/4 mile.. Vettes are not designed for the 1/4 they are a all around car.

Where's the BS flag? There's no f'in way a stock(down to the stock filter and tires) Fbody has run a 12.6's.
Also, it's not all about the 1/4 mile

2000 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am (WS6) 4.9 13.4
2003 Chevrolet Corvette (50th Anniversary) Manual, 4.9 13.4 (R&T Aug. '02)
I know the 01-02 Fbodies are faster then the 2000 model year.
http://www.albeedigital.com/supercou...0-60times.html
So I guess all the info is BS?
Dude I've been a track rat for 20 years.. trust me a good driver can get a stock Fbody into the mid 12's. My car has gears and drag radials and runs mid 12's.

gm high-tech ran a bone stock 01 SS at e-town. they car dyno'd 326 rwhp and ran a 12.96 @ 109. The stock 04 Z06 they had ran a 11.97 i'm guessing a stock C5 is around 12.6 - 12.7 bone stock.
