				4th gen sway bars

what are the largest factory sways that were available on a 4th gen and what models did they come on?

I would imagine the WS.6 had the biggest sway bars.

The WS.6, Firehawk and Camaro SS all got the same combination of 1LE parts
Higher Rate rear springs (360 lbs/in.)
Varible rate rear springs ( 130-180 lbs/in. )
Stiffer front and rear shocks.
Harder 1LE supension Bushings
Larger Diameter front 1LE 32mm anti-swaybar
Free flowing exhaust.

The WS.6 package was made available in 1978 and it was only first made available as a Performance handling package with upgraded suspension part's and special rims
It was meant to give Pontiac owners the chance to have a better suspension package that was used on or close to what was used on the SCCA Trans Am Road course cars.
Later in the 80's they also combined it with or upgraded the Package with some of Gm's Australian division Holden suspension parts "Firehawk, WS.6 36mm front sway bar ect...

Only later on with the 4th Gen Cars it was made into a Peformance & Handling Package which you had to order your Pontiac with Ram-air Option in order to be able to get the WS.6 package, You also had to Order the Ram-air and WS.6 package in order to option for a 1LE Pontiac car also.

If you viewed a WS.6,Firehawk, Camaro SS order form they would look like this
 WS.6 Package
Ram Air & Performance handling package.
Ram air induction system with functionl hood scoops
Low restriciton dual exhaust 325hp
P275/40ZR17 performance tires maximum speed rating.
17'inch polished aluminum wheels.
specific specific front & rear suspension with higher front & rear spring rates. unique shock valving, stiffer panhard bar bushings 3:23:1 rear axle ratio with automatics, 3:42:1 rear axle ratio for 6 speed manual.

Camaro SS Performance package
325hp 5.7L LS1 V8 with forced air induction system.
Unique hood air intake
Low restriction exhaust
Synthetic engine oil
P275/40ZR17 Good Year Eagle F1 performance tires " Maximum speed rating " 17 x 9 5 spoke aluminum wheels
Specially-tuned performance suspension with larger front stabilizer bar, stiffer springs, Unique shock valving and stiffer bushings.
Specific exterior and interior SS Badging and unique rear deck lid spoiler.
3:23:1 rear axle ratio with automatics, 3:42:1 Rear axle ratio for 6 speed manual.

As you can see with the order form info the WS.6, SS and Firehawk are really no different other than Hood,Rims and exterior looks but they all got the same suspension parts...

Once you got the 1LE option along with any of the other option above you received
Larger 1LE Panhardbar, Rear 21mm 1LE Sway bar... "Stock 4th gen rear sway bar is 19mm " 1LE Tranny mount ect, ect..

Certain year 4th gen 1LE's also had the option of 1LE Decarbon shocks or Koni shocks

Along with 1LE rear lower control arms were the same except for they had harder bushings ect..

32/19 came on the WS6, I think that was the biggest factory size for 4th Gen without a 1LE package

EDIT: LT1 cars may have had bigger bars, not sure

At some point, mightve been with the introduction of the LS cars in 98, they stopped using 21mm as the rear 1LE sway bar size and kept the stock 19mm on all 1LE equipped cars

			Seems like the info for the factory stuff is pretty much all posted. As far as the aftermarket stuff goes;

Hotchkis makes the biggest front; 36.5 mm
Bunch of companies make a 25 mm rear bar.

that would make your car feel stiffer then a 40 year old man on 7 viagras. its just too much. you could get away with a 35-36mm front bar, but a 25mm rear could make the car oversteer alot. but hey, its all personal preference right?

fyi- i'm going with a 35/22 setup which should be a good blend

Yeah, I wouldn't reccomend going that big in the back either, but I was just throwing out the largest sways I have seen for the 4th gens.

I just installed the 35/25 from S.T. ( bought them from RK Sport) ill tell you what, my car handles so nicely now, i go over a bump, it keeps its composer and tires on the ground, and when i hit on and off ramps, i swear my car feels like it doesnt lean at all!! you want sway bars, go with those. but yeah just watch with 25 int he rear, oversteer ca noccur, but you shouldnt needto be turning that hard to enact that.
