LT1 Friendly Shops?

I've been crunching some numbers and doing some research regarding my current situation with my car. Right now it does not turn on. I refuse to work on the car myself, I just don’t have the time, motivation, or skill to even want to start. What I’m asking today here is I wanted to see what you guys have to think about any local performance shops that are LT1 Friendly?

I currently have a decent deal worked out with Stage 1 Automotive which is really close to me and I’ve always been satisfied with the service. They quoted me at $1,100 to remove my old motor, and swap all the goodies onto my spare short-block and said it would take less then a week if I got them all the gaskets before hand. Through my job I get excellent prices on GM gaskets through a local dealership. Is this a good deal? Should I keep looking?

I know a lot of you guys would love to help and give a hand, and I have always gotten that help when I reached out, but honestly I refuse to work on the car and I don’t want anyone to come over to do all the work for me. That’s just not fair…

I have access to an enclosed trailer so pretty much anywhere in NJ or PA is do-able over a weekend.

Pretty much all that needs to be done is:
- Remove the 95 LT1 in the car
- Swap out cam/heads/intake and accessories into a 94 Short-Block
- Larger Fuel Pump
- Get it running

The cars already had a mail-order tune done, all the unnecessary stuff has already been removed, theres already alot of good aftermarket stuff invested in the motor in the car now, so it should be pretty straight-forward I hope.

that price definately is good for all the work invovled. especially with the time table they are promising. 1 week is a pretty quick turn around for a motor swap for most shops.

Thumbs up

If the shop is close by, and you are happy w/ their work, I'd say "use 'em." Trying to work things out over distance can be a real pain in the arse.

Thanks Tim.

Trans AM yes I can do the job for you at a cpmparative price but if you already have a good relationship with a shop why look for another?? I really dont like stepping on toes.. espically if they are sponsors of the club...
