Wow, talk about lousy exhaust!

I removed the dual exhaust on the SS396 today and I thought it was 2.5" pipes but it was 2-1/4" with many kinks, crimps and lousy bends. This thing is gonna breath with the 3" dual exhaust! Looks like there is plenty of room for the 3" tailpipes.

The 3 inch systems we tryed needed a balance pipe to get the flow correct -- but every ones set up is different -- the early ford 427 big blocks were the first to imploy the balance system and the pipe diams were 2 1/2 -- its all in the exhaust timing we have had race cars that were faster with mufflers ( bullet type see through ) than racing with open hedders -- jz

Nope, true dual setup. I think it's easier to troubleshoot potential problems with each side separated. H pipes and X pipes help balance and reduce overall noise along with a little boost in power/torque, but I'm not racing the car so it's not really needed right now.
