Requesting assistance in obtaining items

I am requesting 2 knee replacements.

History:
Osgood-Schlatter disease
Tendonitus
Misc. casts
Misc. braces (ranges from entire leg to just knee - both of them)
Ortho scopic surgery for knee cap track (both knees - weak sauce surgery)
Knee cap relocation with screws in left one (major surgery)
Torn ligament in left knee (decent surgery) - ground down femur - ground down knee cap - removed what was left of cartilige = weight reducion!

Current:
Knees have been getting worse... I don't think I make it through 1 week w/o bad pain/ swelling.

I broke down and went back to my knee doctor this monday and...many x ray's later.... tendonitus in the patella area of both knees.... left one is much worse... and the sucky part is, I know officially have arthritus!?!?!?!??!

Ugh.... this is crap..... my left knee is swollen to the point where it is difficult to make out a knee cap..... I'm in pain..... and this is crap!

So..... anyone have new ones??? Or.... wanna trade????

I was dreading him telling me I needed surgery..... there were a huge amount of pamphlets in his office on "life after a knee replacement."

If I have to..... you are damn sure I'll ask for carbon fiber or some light weight material..... then my fat ass should go on the diet mod

hey james i don't know if this is an option for you or not, but ask your doctor about receiving remicade treatments. My understanding is that it was initially used for treating patients with severe arthritis to help ease the pain.

It's an intervenous drug and from my understanding there are no side affects it's what I was doing for the colitis.

I had ACL reconstruction and I work for Stryker. They suggested that I get an ice machine to eliviate swelling. EBI makes them as well. Are you familiar with the device? If not its basicaly a cooler you put ice and water in and it has a electric pump which pumps the ice water through two hoses to a ice pack which gets velcroed around you knee. Works great in bed, or at work if you sit in a desk. Dont do **** for ya otherwise. You can probably get a script for one from you doctor. If you need a recomendation for a good orthopedic surgeon i know of two i highly reccomend from personal experiance. If you can not get a ice machine you can borrow mine, they are compact enough to even stash s few beers in too to wash down thos percoccets and totaly destroy your liver in one fell swoop. Id also see what the cat scan say in terms of cartalage degeneration, miniscus degeneration and arthritus prior to considering a meniscuc replacement. I also found some relief in using glucosimine.

I work for a machine shop in Passaic who Stryker contracts to. We also do alot of other companies work, such as Wright Medical, EBI, Suturetek, K2M, Orthopro, Howmedica, Zimmer etc etc. Most knee replacements that I have delt with are made up of a Tibial and a Femral componunt made of Titanium. Patella componunts however I have seen in both titanium and some 17-4 surgical stainless. Carbon fiber would kill you

-edit-

Let me rephrase that, there is a type of Carbon fiber that has actualy been introduced in some orthopedic implants. I have to learn more about it I can find out more if you like

my boss gave me this link to view. So i retract my previouls statement, i just know that many types of composit laminants and certin poly's the human body rejects. However with the aid of anti-rejecting Drugs (chevelle454 should know about these) There are advancements in implant materials. I origional thought Anti-rejection drugs were more for organ trabsplants, however I have heard that they are playing a significant role in orthopedics now. Check this out http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/q...&dopt=Abstract

i went to a bunch of different knee doctors and none of them said anything i wanted to hear, so i stopped going, stopped dealing with all the pain of rehab, and started taking vitamins and just being more careful. the result is my knees still suck, but i didn't spend thousands of dollars, so i feel better about it.
BTW, my knees are chondro malatia(sp?) and a nice little left knee blow up in high school
