firewood???

Anyone know where I can pick up some firewood preferably someone who had a tree cut down recently and I can come cut it into pieces and take away. I know I can call places for seasoned wood, but I don't mind a little axe chopping and chainsaw use.

Anyone????

My old girlfriends house had a wood burning stove in the basement and her father had an old pick up and a chain saw. He never had wood delivered but once a year he would ask me to go with him up to Harraman state park (7 lakes drive) and chop up whatever dead wood was found on the ground and haul it away. Naturally the first time I heard of this I didnt think a state park would allow this and it was his way of luring me into the woods so he could dismsmber me with a chain saw for violating his daughter but sure enough, we drove up 7 lakes drive, put this permit sticker in the window and chopped up and loaded his truck with dead wood. I dont know how much he paid for the permit but it wasnt much and we saw other people doing the same thing. Now this was like 10 years ago but im willing to bet if you contact the NY state park comission they can direct you to getting a permit. Just my $0.02

Every once in a while I see signs around here for free firewood that you have to chop up and carry away, next time I see one Ill let you know. We just got a little over 6 cords of wood for this winter. Last year we burned about 4, but at $70/cord it was a pretty decent price.

around here I've only ever heard of pre-chopped/tied up wood. But everybody and their mother sells it.
