93 Trans Am 6spd rebuild...

what companies would be good and are the best to have my trans rebuilt? I have no 4th gr. It goes in but grinds and thats it. The trans has 179000 miles on it no rebuid yet. Any knowledge would be awesome. Also any idea on how much I'd be looking at?

The last one we did for timmy had all the upgrades and should handle some decent torque it ended up around $1050 for the rebuild and parts.

FYI, I don't think the rebuild cost is different, but there were two manual trans used in the 93s, the M28 and M29 series, different gear ratios and HP/Torque ratings.

The M29 is a stronger trans, rated for higher HP and torque. If you'll pulling the trans and it's a M28 then this might be a nice upgrade, finding a used M29 is tuff, they are rare, not allot of 93s had the PEG II performance option. Easiest way to tell; PEG II was 3:23 gears, 245 Z speed rated tires and 150 MPH speed-O. PEG I standard Z28/T/A/Formula had 2:73, 235 tires and 120 MPH speed-O. I'd assume the cases are the same, just the shafts and gears are different?

GR - M28 -- M29 -- 94+
1 -- 3.36 -- 2.97 -- 2.66
2 -- 2.07 -- 2.07 -- 1.78
3 -- 1.35 -- 1.43 -- 1.30
4 -- 1.00 -- 1.00 -- 1.00
5 -- 0.80 -- 0.80 -- 0.74
6 -- 0.62 -- 0.62 -- 0.50

Thanks Pampered Z, I know the trans in my car is the M29 trans. I need to figure out what I'm doing. Being jobless sucks!!!

MY boss says its just the syncro, but the trans does have 179,000 orig. miles on it.
