So does that mean if the wire is not in tack the gauge will not work.

Well, that could be the temp gauge sending unit, or the secondary fan turn-on switch. Each head on a TPI car has a sending unit in it. The gauge goes in the driver side head, the fan switch is in the passenger side head. What head was that originally, passenger side or driver side?

Passenger side...If it is the fan switch then it didn't work in the first place cause I had to stright wire my fan to come on when the car comes on....

its the fan switch if its the passenger side like steve said above.
Passenger Side head = Fan Switch (grounds itself out when hot, completing the circuit)
Drivers side head = sending unit for guage.
Front of Intake Manifold = Sending unit for ECM

Kewl guys thanks..I have another ???...My lights on the gauges aint working...I have done everything I know to do I checked the fues ,I took the gauge cluster out and checked the lights I checked the metal prongs that stick into the cluster..I just don't know what else to do...

yes, you'll need post 87 heads for that block, and you'll need to order the stealth ram to match those heads.

You can stick any gen 1 350 heads on any gen 1 350 block....

Justin I was going to say the same thing...
Kid Racer: why do you think aluminum heads are any different than an iron head as far as how they bolt on? They are the same design, and can be made to flow the same, just different materials. Also, a stealth ram bolts up to standard chevy heads, so "getting a set to work with them" is a matter of installing the parts. If you end up with vortec heads, you would need the vortec stealth ram, thats all.
Keep in mind, the stealth ram can flow, so you would need heads that can flow good too, and a cam to support each, if you want to want to maximize power output.

Do they have a different stealth ram for pre 87 and 87+ (besides aluminum L98 ) heads?

Nope, before holley came out with one that fit a vortec head, there was only 1 stealth ram...installs on early or late model heads.

I know Rob_ws6 had to make up little angle adapters to put his SR on his motor. He is using edelbrock heads and IIRC they are pre 87 bolt pattern.
I cant remeber the angle they were, but it wasn't much.

A friend of mine is running a stealth ram set up on a 71 400sbc and he didn't need to modify anything
