Cool Gone Fishin...

I dunno if many of you fish or not, but today was such a great day I had to post up. Went out to a rather secret spot a buddy and I stumbled onto today that has been killing lately with the largemouth bass and I got talked into heading out there today in spite of heat exhaustion. We have been catching smaller Large Mouth's to about 2.5 pounds all year which is fun for a few hours cause we catch 15+ every time each in an hour or so. Today was heaven! First cast I landed a 3 pounder that held up a good fight. Ten mins later I land this guy who weighed in at 3.25

And after another twenty minutes I land this guy. He was on the scale (which was configured half a pound low which I couldn't fix till after he was off), so he weighed in at 5.5 LBS +

Its my personal largest LargeMouth best, fought incredibly, and I was so stoked I had to post up. I also landed a 4 pounder that I didnt have time to get a picture of, but the biggie is even better.

Nice! I've been hooking into some 14"+ smallmouth on the river this week. But it takes time to really get them to bite. Tuesday I had at least 4 fish on that were 14"+ and they all through the hook when they jumped! And that was a brand new lure.

Yeah, I have been using a minnow Rapala lure back there up until yesterday, and landed the big one on a 5" White/Speckled Senko worm on medium action. I think the bigger ones like the worm with little action on the bottom, while the smaller ones went for the action on top of the water since they were going for bugs and the such. Ya dont get to be a 5.5 lb Large Mouth by eating flies I saw a ~5 pounder chase after a big Sun fish when I had it hooked, so I think I will use the sunnies as bait next time I catch one.
