So I bought a new video card!

To all the gamers out there... I finally went back to ATI after some long love with nvidia. I upgraded my 8800 GTS to a HD 4870 which has been getting killer reviews... and I got a sick price as well =)

i am sure you are happy with the new graphics.

i am having a tough time getting my box converted over - as in the builder either wouldn't or couldn't accept the fact that the chipset would not support nvidia cards, only ATI. and since no nvidia, no SLI, only crossfire. heh, confused yet? anyway, i sent him a slew of possible remedies, but it's up to him how much he pays for the cards. all i care about is being able to run them in crossfire mode. talk about sick... they handle high end 3d graphics without the need to overclock, and i might even be able to tie in the board's obg (on-board graphics) for even more power. of course, now i need to upgrade my monitor to get the best image possible out of the new-found power... of course i am getting ahead of myself. i have to wait and see what he sends me as a replacement for the twin 6600 gt cards that 'came in the box'.

Jim any half wit that know anything about building pc's would know that there are sli chip sets and crossfire chip sets (you can run a single nvidia card in a ati chipset but can't run sli and vice versa)IMO from what you said I wouldn't put to much faith in the guy dealing with your system
not to mention why would he put 4 year old cards in it int he first place

Yeah i've been running a 3870 x2 for some time now and it was a wicked upgrade from a 8800 gtx but the new 280 gtx look sick IMO glad i didn't get the 9800gx2 as it was a 500.00 card at the time and is now selling for around 200 easy
