Carb problems

Alrite guys im in need of some advice yet again.

Im having some problems with the carb I put on my car. Its a holley 3310-2 750 vacuum secondaries carb. I believe the power valve is blown and thats causing some problems but my major concern lies in the secondaries.

As soon as gas gets pumped through the fuel line into the secondaries it comes spewing out of the vent. It gushes out non stop untill you shut it down. The main side of the carb is fine and I had a buddy's dad set the floats twice to make sure it wasnt that. Tho one float is metal and the other is plastic dont know if that means anything tho.

What do you guys think any advice would be appreciated.

Look to see if the floats are sticking open in the bowl.

What do you mean by sticking open in the bowls? Fuel pressure is between 6/7.

basically the float opens & closes the fuel inlet - if it sticks open, fuel floods the bowl

yep as was said above the float valve might be set incorrect or it is dirty, both will over flow the bowl through the vent tube, first you need to stop the problem take off the bowl and clean it with carb spray THAN to set the float level correctly -- if fuel is coming out of it the front you can take the side screw out on the side of the float bowl and adj the float level just to the bottom of the screw hole threads that will set the fuel level at the correct setting ---- NOTE car must be flat and level and running to do this setting if it has a block fuel pump or an electric this is the correct way to set the level in the bowl ----- their is no power valve in the rear of a vacuum carb only a low performance double pumper, and if the power valve is BLOWN out than the car will run real rich and act like its on choke with no high idle speed, sooo you should first clean and try to set the float level that will at least get you in the ball park CAUTION buy a Holley carb book and read it Because if you screw it up you will light the car of fire - the books show a tool to set the level but all the drag guys use the run method to bottom of screw hole -- jz

This carb was new, wasn't it? Do you have some form of inline filter or filter in the carb inlet fittings? You may have some debris in your tank that is getting through and holding the needle open. If it was a rebuilt carb, somebody may have put the float spring on the wrong way(don't ask me how I know ) and that can cause it to sink and fuel to shoot through the vent tube.

It is used Jeff. Float spring is in the correct way, tho it has a little slack. The float it self doesnt have any holes in it or anything either.
Im getting a renew kit from holley and rebuilding this puppy.
New diaphram, secondairy cams. power valve. needle and seats, ect ect. & ill pick up a new float while im at it.
I hope that helps to solve my issue.
