fiberglass hood + hood pins

I have the SS hood on my car and I see stress cracks have formed on the surface up top from where the latch is. At higher speeds I notice the sides of the hood move up and down because the rubber stops don't reach the hood and they're at their full adjustment. Unfortunately I think my only option is to install hood pins but I need a guranteed fix before I waste my time fixing the hood just to have the same thing happen again. The problem is I think hood pins will ruin the look of the car...any other ideas?

They make nice hood pins....

http://www.hoodpins.net/

Ring Brothers makes some, but I'm not seeing them on their site. Maybe call them.

http://www.aerocatch.com/automotive-home.html

Start googling, check out hot rod sites...not camaro sites.

i think hood pins would look real nice, i don't know if they would fix the problem, but i would hope so. the black powder coat would be awesome and blend in well. silver pins to go with the wheels and lenses. could you strengthen the area around the latch?

I saw some black locking hood pins that sit virtually flat, I guess something like that would be the way to go.

your badass car + the hood pins a few posts up = Super badass. it would look like sleek and shiny but ready to roll.

Is this the part when I make my usual comment about you putting your pretty stock hood back on in place of that horribly ugly SS hood?

The ones SweetBMX posted are the ones i am looking at for my car. They are supposed to be very lite and clean install.

you shut your mouth when you talk about my SS hood I like those pins as well, but unfortunately most of the good looking ones are $80+. I really like these but they're $150

Because with the ammount of flex in the hood the only way it would probably stay down would be if the latch assembly was pulled lower than the outer edges making the hood wavy.

They just look like typical parts store pins. If you had a race car or something more run of he mill I could see using them. On a show car like yours, I would have to say look at something more unique.

The problem is finding a better looking set but without spending more than like $30. I don't think it will happen. I've also been thinking about changing the looks a bit. Black out all my lights, different spoiler, and eventually wheels...just a few different ideas.

Just wait on it until you have the money to spend on something good. I know how you keep your car and you will end up hating the way it looks and just having to spend the money again later to get the look you wanted in the first place.

not paying $150 for hood pins isn't "skimping out" it's being smart lol

Anyway, I found a similar set to the ones I linked to earlier but for $35. I came across them on a bronco/truck site but after reading and seeing the picture they don't seem to be different..what do you think?

Really? You don't see a difference between polyurethane hood pins and billet hood pins? I expect more from you Ted. These little puppies are going to be very visible.

And I'm not even going to dignify these with a response.....

If $150 is too much, keep looking. But if you buy polyurethane hood pins I will ban you personally.

I requested more pictures from the bronco site and they look like garbage. What bothers me is I think those billet ones will draw too much attention to the pins whereas a black flat scuff plate aluminum set won't be too noticeable. Black plate, black screws, black pin, and I can get black clips. I dunno, I wish I could have a live photoshop because I need to see it in person lol

Pins will get people to look no matter what. The question is, do you want them looking at cheap ass parts store pins with a paint job or the billet ones that match the quality of the rest of the car?

Hackish. You'll end up scratching the coating off. Plus you'd need a bunch to make up for the lack of area they have and can;t spread the load.

Do it right or light your car on fire.
