Got some good news today!
As some of you may or not know I applied for Marine Corp Officer Candidate School about a year ago in October, and today I finished my paperwork & interviews and ran my first of many physical fitness tests and did pretty dam good. So as soon as I complete a 3 mile run in under 30 minutes, complete 9 dead arm pull ups & do 100 crunches, I'll be shipping out at the end of May for Platoon Leader School!
OCS is a voluntary summer program in between my Junior & Senior year of college that evaluates you on your leadership abilities and based on how you do you'll be offered a commission in the Corp as a 2nd Lieutenant (O-1) when you graduate. Its a combined 10 week program that takes place in Quantico Virginia. I'm pretty pumped mentally, just need to make sure my body can keep up!
Although your MOS doesn't come into play until you graduate my three choices I picked are 0303 Light-Armored Reconnaissance, 7513 AH-1Z/UH-1Y Pilot & 4602 Combat Camera.

You'll be running under 24 minutes once you graduate. THAT'S how much you'll run. Up and down hills. And gravel roads. And thru the woods.
Mosquitos will find you. Get used to it. Really muggy right next to the water. But you get a nice break walking to the chowhall. Just 'use your head' on the obstacle courses...seems that's been a problem for a while .
I used to work at the old crash barn which is on the left of the 'miracle mile' - the last, long stretch after you go over the train tracks to OCS. Was there 2 weeks short of 6 years. Too bad I don't know any of the DI's out there....I'd help you out some .
Take care. Let us know more.....and if you need pointers for your PFT, let me know.
