GTO

Soo I was driving past the Pontiac dealership today, on my way to get my 4th alignment this year because my car is a peice of crap, when I saw this for sale...

It's really nice, its an 04 with a sunroof, black leather, LS1, auto trans, and a 05-06 hood, with the taller spoiler and the grille insert things. I like it alot, I have a problem with the fact it's an automatic though. it's $15,000 with 56,000 miles. I don't know if I want to go through with it, what do you guys think?

if it was an LS2 id say do it no question

im not too keen on LS1 gto's, but if your discontent with your car , and can afford it

im sure a GTO could fill the void

Not bad but not great either.

Will it do the job you want it to do? I would stick with a LS2 car if I was buying a Goat but that's personal preference.

if you have money to mod it, then you could get it moving, either than that, an LS2 car is just prime meat

but, its nice either way man

I've driven my friends ls2 6 speed before I did like it a lot, but looking on auto trader it seems like all the ls2's are above 20k. I'm thinking maybe they can bring that price down too, it's a little steep.

And no offense, but where do you plan on getting 15k from? I thought you were having a hard time maintaining the TA due to being in financial straights?

You have a pretty good job, Mike. I don;t get the impression the OP is in the same kind of situation. Plus being too far in debt as a young adult is usually not a good idea.

Then based on what I have seen too many people go through, good job. Most fail. Realize your experience is not the norm.

Bro your in school, you dont need the payment...Just look for an ls1 fbody for 4-7k. 1/2 the price, same engine and same performance. When i was your age I made the same mistake..and its not fun being broke for your car. Try to sell the Lt1, save a little and buy it cash...At your age full insurance is no fun...My Ls1 is costing me 14 dollars a mth extra because I have the title. Just think about it w/ the payment and full insurance will you still beable to do what you want to the car?

That's the problem, with a fixed payment and a warranty I could at least know what expense was coming to me and when. With the ta, one month nothing is wrong, the next I'm replacing a list of things. For example, my car has been fine for like two months, then the other day they engine started making all kinds of noise and vibrating and shaking, and i noticed today the outside of my tires were all screwed up and it needed an alignment again. Honestly, I'm tired of the upkeep on the TA, but I really do need a car at the same time. I spent 6k on my TA when I bought it, and over the past 2 and a half years spent about another 6k on repairs. (this post won't help me sell it, thats for sure.)

This really isn't the most practical car I guess, since I do landscaping in the summer I should get a truck, but I work at domino's in the winter, and a car is more practical. I commute to school, so basically a car payment for me is inevitable in the near future. I know I will be getting a car in the coming months, I can't decide what though.

I was unaware there were no sunroofs available for these though, I don't think I'd want a car that was cut into like that. If i don't get a truck, I need a car my dad won't mind driving when I'm using his truck.

see what you can get for your car and look around on craigslist and ebay

id look for an LS1 car

they're pretty good stock and are reliable, if they havent had the living crap beaten out of them, and they have a 1st gear lock out for snow , from what ive been told

It's more like the car's condition and the list of things that need fixing, combined with the fact the value is like 3k tops and since money is hard to come by as a 20 year old, I wouldn't want to spend it constantly repairing my car. I could justify spending it on a down payment of a car under warranty with lower mileage I could rely on.

Its the nature of these cars...Its always something, especially if you race it...At your age you would be insane to own anything performance wise without owning it outright. I could have went out and bought a 15k ws6 no problem but i know how I am w/ cars. I always wanna do something new to it. I bought the car i have now for 3500 bux w/ a lsx in it w/ around a 100k. Motor still has plently of life and I can still afford to do whatever repairs are needed without effecting my lifestyle...If anything look into a small bank loan...I took 4k out and I pay about 100 bux a mth.

FWIW a sunroof could be had as a dealer installed option, correct in NOT coming from GM that way. That is the only constructive input I have. Good luck on your decision.
