New Camaro gets 29MPG

I'd like to begin this post with a slap on the wrist to Al for not posting this earlier.

http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/16/2...9-mpg-highway/

The new V6 Camaro has 305hp and gets 29MPG! With the new ratings, I believe an LS1 Camaro gets about 5mpg less. This is really big news. Autoblog has one in their possession now and will offer a driving report in about a week. As, an F-Body owner, I am really excited about this car. Direct Injection FTW!

I am betting the V8 will get better mileage than rated. Our brilliant gubment makes automatic subtractions based on displacement in their formula. Seems they could save everyone a lot of trouble if they just hit cruise control on a test track to determine mileage before the did the crash tests, at least then the numbers would be based on some actual data.

BTW, my 28mpg rated 99 got 30-31 highway with only a cat back.

Not much different than the 4th gens or even a V6 3rd gen

Best highway i got in the 1992 V6 was on cruise control the whole time got 28.6mpg

Best highway i got with the 2000 T/A was 32mpg did 370miles on the 11.5gal fill, was on cruise control doing 65mph from nj into VA.

sure. but this is an EPA rating. neither of those cars would come close to that rating. and if it gets 29mpg EPA, i bet it could do mid 30s in real world driving!
