Link to the group purchase. I have read a bunch of good things about them on LS1tech and will be going with their stage 3. I wouldn't go with the lightened flywheel if you plan on taking the car to the track often.

Care to share why?

Lighter flywheel = less rotating mass = win

Not in every case. Ligher flywheel = less stored energy at launch when it's already spinning at your launch RPM. But you will spin faster.

Yea, I understand the principle behind that, but from what I've seen the cars with a decent amount of torque don't seem to be affected much off the line, and almost always see an improvement in the top half of the track.

I think the billet steel type flywheels are a good compromise though....lighter than stock, but not quite as balls-to-the-wall as the aluminum ones.

Either way, I don't think the OP is much of a dragstrip junky, so it shouldn't impact him.

for a heavier car like an fbody, you wouldnt want to go too light on the flywheel. has to do with the whole stored energy thing that billy was talking about.

David Vizard wrote a rather lengthy article kind of debunking that theory. I can't find it online, I'll see if I can find the PHR issue laying around here. MOI is important.

Well never really fully thought about it about the chromoly flywheel being that its so much lighter until now, its actually not a good choice like you are saying ron in a heavier fbody, flywheels that are really light are ideal for example imports, so i went with their billet flywheel, date to have it in the car is may 17th, will do the break in and post up my review.

still never posted a link to the GP. Is it over? I'd really like to get in on it. I may have just sold my NX kit so I have some $$ to put towards it and I need a clutch.

I bought a stage 3 like a month ago and I'm going to install it this weekend (hopefully). I let know what I think once it's done.

I run the Fidanza aluminum flywheel When the clutch doesnt weld it self together it works great on the bottle. Can be a bit trick launching off the bottle though, but I think that has more to do with the clutch I run (its very on/off ish) so it bogs easy.

Take the trip back up here and have JSPerformance work you up a custom piece. A quick chat with Josh and he will get you a perfect clutch to match the needs of how you drive and how you want it to feel.

Josh did my clutch and I will never buy off the shelf again.
