Bet you'll never guess what James did today....
...he got into another car accident. Yes, ANOTHER one. In another Benz (the new C Class he just leased...1200 miles on it, only 1 month or so old). He is OK though.
He was on his way to work, traveling on a four lane road (2 lanes each direction) in the left lane. An Infiniti SUV was sitting in the shoulder in the same direction he was going, and decided to make an illegal u-turn in front of James. James attempted to swerve to avoid it, but the guy floored it without looking. Hit James' rear passenger side and pushed him into oncoming traffic. Luckily cars coming at him were able to avoid him. He got pushed all the way over to the other side of the road. Car took a lot of damage, but did exactly what it was supposed to do. The one picture we have isn't the greatest, but it shows some of the damage. James thinks it looks worse from another angle, but he was in too much pain to take a ton of pics. Will post it shortly (need to save it first).
He was taken via ambulance on a backboard to the hospital. Pain had to be intense for him to even tell them he was in pain, and that it was his neck, since he knew they'd put him on a backboard immediately. Had two sets of x-rays and a CT scan to make sure nothing had been affected from the surgery, or anything new. Everything was negative. So far, so good. He's in pain, and will probably get worse over the next few days. But he's in one piece.
You would think we would eventually catch a break. At least he was in the C class, and not the TA.

As I said, not the greatest pic. More to come, eventually.
Doesn't look too bad there, but when it went on the tow truck, the tires screeched since the wheels weren't rotating. Should be interesting to see how much damage is really there.

That's a shame, hope he gets better soon. So how many car accidents has he been in throughout his life if you don't mind me asking. It seems like at least one a year so far.

Damn James, hope you feel better AGAIN!!! I hope nothing is screwed up from your recent surgery, and you can continue on the road to recovery.

Thanks everyone.
Ugh, I'm in typical car accident pain.... and it will probably get worse.
My poor brand new car is all messed up. I was in too much pain at the scene to really check the car out but off the top of my head it will need:
a new complete door
work to the rear fender
rear bumper
wheel
tire
not sure if rear air bag deployed
wheel was locked (not free spinning) so I don't know how much damage occured to the four wheel drive system
not sure on the suspension
I just couldn't believe this bastard. I saw him on the shoulder - he was in a bright orange FX? SUV infiniti. As I got closer, he just floored it into trffic into an illegal u turn and was attempting to cross all four lanes?!?!?!? He never looked and never used his indicator..... oh yeah, he was on the phone too.
I did my damnest to avoid him but there was no way.
I spoke with the cop - he was really cool - i don't know what the other guy said but it is my understanding that the cops know it was his fault. I understand that the cop was yelling at him - I missed it because I was on a damn back board in the ambulance.
Scary part is, the guy was more concerned about his truck than his kid...... that is some *********!!!!
So, now I wait to see how bad my little c class is.
I'm also really pissed because I'm supposed to be recovered from my spinal fusion by the end of the year - just in time for some end of the season race!!!! Something tells me that won't be happening.
I think it is time I get a tank......some people might consider it overkill....but I'm fed up with people hitting me and sending me to the hospital..... do you think people put nitrous on them and race them????
BRB, must research

M2A3's were the bradleys I had the pleasure of fixing and diagnosing in the military. Too bad jersey only has one in the entire state, which I just saw on FT Dix yesterday at the main HQ.
