Road trip from Arizona to Edison...

So finally my girl is moving back to good ol dirty jerz from Arizona this weekend. I'm flyin out there tomorrow night at 8, should be gettin there a few ticks after 11 AZ time. Then up bright and early at 7 on Saturday to start our road trip back! I've done a road trip to Atlanta and back but it's nothing compared to this: 2400 miles. I'm sure even if we take our time we can do it in 3 days or so. We'll be starting obviously in AZ, going thru New Mexico, the northern tip of Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, PA, then finally hooome swweeet home. She's actually moving into the Durham Woods apartments in Edison. I've heard good and bad things from that place. I'm probably gonna end up moving there too with her next feb when my current lease runs out. Hopefully next year i can get a fbody again and do the weird central jersey meets ... I dont wanna move to central jersey tho!! lol jk.. (really tho North FTW)

So anyone ever done a road trip this long? Any tips?

Well I Long Hauled Power Tour twice....each trip was about 3,000 miles but also spread out over a week. It's great to see other parts of the country through the windshield of a car. You meet all kinds of interesting people and so forth. Take some time to stop at local diners, bars, points of interest, etc if you can.

If you are both sharing driving and are aching to get home you can do it in 3-4 days. But I would suggest taking your time and enjoying the trip. I did a road trip to Tx and back over 4 days with shared driving, and we still stopped along the way at a few places. Road trips are always good times, I can't wait to go on another one.

I went with my mom, my aunt (her twin), and my mom's cat from Central NJ to Vegas. Left at Noon EST Wed, arrived at 5pm PST on Friday. In a crappy Chevy Tracker with a luggage carrier on the roof. We only stopped over one night in Indiana. We drove through the rest of the way, stopping for gas and food only. I did the majority of the driving, only sleeping when we stopped over and for about 5 hours with the help of NyQuil in the back seat.

If I could do it again, I'd take more time to stop off and see places.

My other goal is to one day fly into Denver, rent a car, and drive through the Rockies into Vegas. It was beautiful (we drove through in the middle of May, still lots of snow on the peaks). Only sucky part is that 18 wheelers were passing us in the crappy car.

Depending on how quickly you want to get back, don't stop for food one time, then gas another. Try to make them about the same time. Same for bathroom breaks. Of course, if you want to drag it out and take your time, do whatever you want, as far as when and where to stop.

Have fun!
