Apple computer help!!!
I have a G3 Platform Tower. Everything in it is pretty much updated to the latest it can, except it runs on OSX 3.9. 2 internal harddrives 100 GB and 150 GB.
The tower won't turn on. I've checked the cables and they are in there tight and supplying power. It plays the mac start-up sound, and then you hear the fans speed up, they whir to a high-pitched speed, then click, and begin the gradual speed up whirring sound, from low and slow to high and fast, over and over again. Basically it keeps rebooting but without actually starting up.
Help.

i had a computer like that. believe it or not just unplugging it from the wall for like 5 minutes worked in getting it to boot up.

If one of the fans has failed, it may prevent bootup to protect the processor. How old is the machine?

It could actually be the logic board, apples equivalent to the mother board. In that case, its a very expensive fix, but the good news is you can still get the stuff off the hard drive.

I would say check the memory sticks, but I've never even touched an Apple computer ever. Can someone confirm if Apple even uses RAM?

Liz, let me know if it's still acting up and I'll talk to Garrett tonight about it. One of us should be able to swing over one day and take a look at it if you want.

Thanks guys for the suggestions. I will look into it. Justin, it's still doing the same thing so far so I'll let you know if there's a time I might be around when one of you guys can take a look at it.
Annnnnnd to the PC comments.... I already have a PC. Home-built. A few glitches but no matter how old it gets, it still runs all the programs like a CHARM.
I will ALWAYS love the PC over the mac, even if I don't use it as much, it is more reliable than either my ibook or my tower.
