You are thinking of the Zextel Torsen version that is OEM in the F-body. This is a much heavier duty version of an all gear LSD by Eaton.

Its Summit Racing brand. I wanted the Richmond, but they were back ordered. They will be more than adequate for my application.

Interesting idea. The gears come with a break-in coating, and specific instructions on how to break them in. Not sure how Micronite would work with a coating. The coating will probably have to be removed first, which would void the warranty.
Anyway, its a little overkill for a daily driver, no?

It's as much of an overkill as that Eaton for a DD

Break in coating? When you break in gears you are work hardening them.

dont have any problems with mine, works well and is very smooth, quite and niver make a sound. I've never had any problems with it clicking and popping in turns and such. Mine is in a moser 9" though, maybe the problems are with improper setup?

Probably!!! But the Tracloc cost less than the less desirable clutch units on the market. Go figure.

Tru-Trac and Traction-Lok are not the same thing.

Ooops! LOL! You caught me mixing up my LSD's! Of course, I meant Truetrac. And seeing as we are being nit-picky, take note the correct name is Truetrac, not Tru-Trac.

I am not being as nit picky as you may think. A TrueTrac is what you own. A Traction-Lok is what I own, in my 9". It is a clutch type LSD.

Ehem... Truetrac. Truetrac. Truetrac. Repeat as necessary.

Lol. Fixed. Although I am still calling it by the right name, just incorrectly spelled.
Oh, and what "break in coating" is on the gears?

The dark grey coating on the gears is phosphorus. I was under the impression that it was there to assist with load break in. But I'm not exactly sure what the purpose of the phosphorus coating is. It could be just for corrosion protection. Whatever its function, I read in many places that the gear oil should be drained after the first 500 miles to remove any metal partickes and the phosphorus coating that will wear off.
So I know the grey stuff is phosphorus, just unsure what its function is.
