replacing m6 tranny mount, help please

im gunna attempt to swap out the tranny mount on my 96 lt1 m6er... was wondering, wheres the best place to jack the tranny to hold it up? the car wont be on a lift so...
also, anyone know the torque for the bolts on the mount? i already have the crossmember specs from another post.

make it easy on me, can someone just literally circle where i should jack lol... ive heard tailshaft but i dont know exactly where that refers too, i can guess, but i dont do such things when it comes to anything mechanical.

edit i found 38ftlbs as the tranmission mount bolt and 77lbs as the trannymount nut but its from an 00 ls1 car w t56... i take it its the same for the lt1/t56 combo since its the same frame anyhow?

see where the driveshaft connects to the trans, thats what they are referring to.
you could also use a block of wood and lift it under the pan.

 | dont read too far into that pic... its an a4 lol

you can use the block of wood method, or a trans jack pretty much anywhere along the t56 case, its a quick job so just make sure you arent resting it on any sensors or plugs...

thats a better idea of the trans he's gonna be working with. lots of nice stable spaces to get up under.

if you can get the jack in without the handle being in the way, the flat spot about 4 inches in front of the trans mount is a good spot

			good call cbr...
now the simpler question... where are good jack points and jack stand points from the rear? i cant get the jack under the 2 front "shoe" spots but i can get easy access from the rear of the car, i just dont remember where to jack and where to put the stands from when bigal helped me with the rear sway bar.

right in front of the lower control arm mounts on the chassis
if you have subframe connectors you can put them anywhere along them

If that's the case, just get higher jackstands. Would be cheaper than going to a garage.

Brian...ughthe reason he cant get under it is because he has what amount to be a minor upgrade over a sissor jack to jack the car up. Im surprised he got the car high enough to put the stands under it.
Get a better jack, jackass. We sell them. Isle 5 and right in front of the store.
