thinking about ez pass

I'm thinking of getting an ez pass. I don't go through tolls that much but ocassionally. I use the ac expressway on my way to williamstown and my day trips to the shore, and when i go to philly for some fist pumping and cheesesteaks. From what I'm reading it sounds like I just put money into the ez pass account and once the money goes down I replenish the money. Is this correct? Also, is there any other money fees besides the 1 dollar a month fee. I don't care about the dollar a month, so that doesn't bother me as long as I don't have to pay some other insane fees.

Theres no extra fees and you can do it 1 of two ways. Either have the ez pass directly linked to your debit card or checking account or do a prepaid sort of thing. Hope that helps.

I agree with all the above. EZ Pass is well worth it.

Basically its like you said. Set a pre-set limit. I think mine is $25. Every time it gets to like 10% of that it automatically takes the 25 bucks out of my account. And you get a detailed breakdown of all your toll charges in the mail. I have one for my truck and one for my camaro

I was thinking of doing the prepaid account, so they don't charge me and then if im low on money get a overdraft from TD.

EZ pass is wonderful.. I have it linked to my c.c. account so I have a chance to see when they take it out

"they take the money out depending on how much you use it" - Maybe you went through tolls, so they charged you for those tolls.

"they would charge me a months worth of tolls in advance" - also known as "loading your account".

EZ pass saves so much time on the parkway. i remember senior year i was racing my friend down to wildwood and i would be doing 85-100 without ezpass and he did 55-80 with ezpass. i lost by a solid 20 min

yea i commute to chester PA everyday for work. its annoying to make sure i always have cash on me but its cheaper in the end. yea its only a dollar or two that they charge. but in the same respect......its a dollar or two. why pay the charges when i can just pull the money from the atm for free. plus its one less bill i have to worry about.

The $1 per month they charge you is an absolute steal. If I didnt have EZpass, I would waste WAY more than a dollar per month in gas waiting in toll lines & getting back up to highway speed after paying the toll. Not to mention all of the time it saves me.

As is mine.

It varies by state. IIRC for a while DE was free and people were signing up there.

It's a dollar for me as well. When I was commuting I always felt like the time I saved as opposed to waiting in line to pay cash made up for the $1/month service charge. Plus you don't have to deal with some of the terrible toll workers

now that I have e z pass and don't have to deal with toll workers, can I get an e z pass for the DMV so I don't have to deal with the lovely workers there?

It's an extra dollar per month if you opt for the online statement which is kind of worthless. Just make sure you opt out of the statement. You can always review activity on the account anyway.
