OD question.

With my car in [D], around 40mph the 'verter has a fit and unlocks/locks like crazy... but it does not do it in D.

Now other than just worse MPG cause of no lockup, if I cruise round town in D, that won't hurt the trans right? No speeds higher than 50...

I think the lock/unlock is from the trans having a pwm control for lockup. The pwm control is supposed to make the car ride and shift comfortably. So it gets confused with light or no gas and doesnt create a set pressure to stay in lockup or stay in 3rd. From what Ive been reading, the pwm control can be tuned out so you are either in lockup or in 3rd.

Staying in D wont hurt anything, you just wont or shouldnt go into lockup. No lockup = no pwm control = no clunking. I think D also increases the part throttle shift points.
