people with totalled 93-02 f bodies, step inside

What did/do insurance companies usually give for your totalled fbody and what do they normally charge to buy your totalled car back?
besides going by the obvious condition of the car before the accident, do they add dealer value and trade in value, then get an average from that to determine value of the car?

is there a percentage that they go by when figuring out what the salvage value of the car is?

thanks for any input
If it helps, my car is a 99 z28 6speed manual, pwr everything, t-tops, leather, 12disc,alloy wheels, 88,600 miles. before the accident, other than a scratch on the passenger side 1/4 panel, the car is pretty darn clean and interior is in great shape.

NADA says $5,975 for clean trade in and $8,225 for clean retail. average would be $7,100

KBB-- trade in value- $5,300, private party value excellent- $6,915, $6465 good, and $8,600 for retail value

average of those two would be $5,882-$7,757 (depending on what numbers they average)

their insurance company, liberty mutual, will be paying me

My insurance company actually used "market value" it was almost the same as dealer

Usually the buyback is 10%. Keep in mind they'll probably take out your $500 deductible in the settlement as well.
Keep in mind that you're under no obligation to accept your insurance company's offer. If you feel you're being low-balled then fight for what you think you're entitled to.

Most of the people I've talked to in similar situations shop around on autotrader/craigslist and local ads. Find something as close as possible to your car . If the insurance company offers you something that you think is unfair you can show them what a similar replacement would cost you.

 | i dont have a deductible, i had only liability on the car. Seeing that the accident was 100% their fault, i would think their insurance company would be paying for it all. 10% buyback would be freakin sweet lol

this kinda happened to me with my 06 dodge stratus, a lady t-boned me and she admitted it and there where a few witness, but in a nutshell they paid off the loan and took the car because i had a loan, i forgot there insure corp, but i never got an opt to buy back the car im sure if it was paid off then i would have that option to buy the car. but yes they average it with the value of it what it is worth with what you get like if you go to a dealer and trade it in type deal.

Not to go off-topic but a friend of mine got some info on this girl too-

she recently got her license back in march of this year

has a criminal record - a few counts of possession (oxycotton, marijuana 2x)

And from what my insurance rep said, it was her friend's car that she was driving and not her own

I believe I bought my old camaro back from insurance for $50 (not a typo)
It was valued at 5-7k just like yours and I got $5200ish for it

I posted pics in your other thread, damage was very similar to yours. It was still drivable, 60k miles on it, good engine/trans/rear, everything still worked and in great shape other than what got hit.

Ron, you sign NOTHING. That's an old body shop trick, you just need to get an estimate. He if at any point asks you to sign something you take the car and leave ASAP.

The one car I had totaled they averaged retail and wholesale I was fine with that and accepted. Also my buy back was $100.
Now like everyone else has said, if your not happy with their offer don't accept it.
If need be hire a lawyer, or atleast threaten to.

I asked for a quote not a check! so i called the insurance company and they dont have the check ready yet and let them know i am NOT getting anything done by that guy

my first choice of 3 body shops that i will choose for quotes- i went to eddie's auto body repair in north cape may, He said it will be totalled. cost to fix would be $5,872.00 sounds more like it

i will put the other quotes up as i get them

Classic body shop move. They low ball the job, you say "sure, fix my baby" they then bamboozle the insurance company with a huge supplement after getting into the repairs, they(the insurance company) then total it and then the shop comes after you for anything and everything the insurance company won't pay for.
 F'in scumbag.
