				9yrs.....

I start typing this just minutes before the 1st plane hits the North Tower.
Obviously we all post the RIP's, the Never Forgets and all of the catch phrases we use to remember that day and those that tragically lost their lives. We should remember those innocent victims, those brave police, fire and other response people that lost their lives. We should remember the families torn apart, the business lost and the widespread fear that day inflicted on most of us.

However, today, let us also remember how we came together as a nation and as a society. For that day and for the weeks to come we put aside political differences, race differences, and social & economic difference and came together....to stand united as ONE. We said we will not stand by and do nothing to help our fellow Americans. We truly showed how great this country and we as a people can be. So I say, on the 9th anniversary of that horrific day, we put aside those differences and come together, like we did 9yrs ago and TRULY remember what happened and those that lost their lives. I will personally never forget that day, from start to finish, much like everyone else here.

To those that lost their lives, I hope your souls find your resting place and you find peace.

Well said. Out of all the sadness and all the lives lost, something special and magical happened. People were helping each other and had no problem sacrificing their time, body, or life to help those in need. Nobody was standing with their hand out looking for a check or something in return. People did what they had to do, no questions asked.

What I saw is how truly heroic and selfless Americans really are. I was pretty young at the time, but I really saw how America is the best country in the world.

 | I was on the USS Enterprise when this happend. We were in the Indian Ocean next to Africa after we just left the Pursian Gulf 2 days prior. We were heading for a port call in South Africa when they turned us around to go back to the Gulf. They shut off all comunication off the boat for the next 45 days. Took us about 2 weeks before we started to bomb them. Was the worst 2 weeks of my life and all of the 6000 other sailors and Marines on board. We couldnt understand how we have all this fire power but not doing anything about what happened. We had 4 Aircraft carries lined up next to each other which is why it took so long for us to start bombing. We had to wait for the carriers to meet up with us. 2 carriers launched during the day and us and another carrier launched during the night. It was nonstop for a little over a month. Never saw anything like it. Watching F14's and F18's launching fully armed and barely making it off the deck, then hours later the same planes coming back empty. The Captain showed us every video of every smart bomb strike. Some pretty intense ****.

The saddest part of all was the people onboard that were from NYC that had family who worked in the WTC but did not know if they made it out in time or not. There was no way to find out untill we could start getting mail and email again 45 days after Sept 11.

I cannot believe this is already 9 years ago. Time flys now. I was 9 years old sitting in class (4th grade). I could not understand why all of the teachers were acting weird all day. They didnt tell anyone anything being afraid that some of the students had family in the WTC. Came home and my dad told me what had happend. I still didnt really understand till I turned the TV on. Ever single channel was showing videos or talking about it. I know I will never forget that day.
One cool thing I remeber was driving through NY the week after and almost every car/truck had a Flag on it somewhere.

I was leaving to go to woodshop class, heard a couple kids talking about some planes and a building. Go into shop and there on the TV they are showing the events unfold. We were so pissed in the room, and a few of us teared up. About 5 minutes later the assistance principal came in and made us turn the TV off, which was followed by some reluctance and yelling by us, but we eventually turned it off. 364 days out of the year it's not much on your mind, but like today, I looked at a customers receipt, and realized those number 9/11 and it hit me like a strong wind. It's there, etched forever.

i saw the fighter jets fly east over the GWB and all around in the skies by us.
i watched the smoke from the towers from the palisades cliffs.

i, probably along with so many other, felt helpless and vulnerable.

i told myself i would take action someday, it took a few years but i got my licks in.

I woke up after a good night with my buddies at the local watering hole. My sister was home and I asked her wtf?!. She told me to turn on the news. I did and I sat stunned. I couldn't believe what I was seeing.I turned on the radio and tuned into Howard Stern and listened. I couldn't believe what was happening. I sat in stunned silence for the next 2 hours watching the news. I walked outside to get in my vehicle and ride up the street and get a coffee. There wasn't a single plane in the sky.the silence was eerie.

I just got home from my morning college class. My mom said something like "they just hit camp David" and I had no clue what she was talking about.
I went across the street to my best friends house at the time, and told his dad. We turned on the tv and I remember he got so pissed and said something along the lines "I know it was those damn Arabs". He was a air force vet also.

I am a locksmith by trade and I was working on a front entrance for a preschool in Jersey City(my shop was located in Jersey City and you could see the towers from the parking lot of the shop) I was directly across the river. As I was working a woman came in and said a plane just hit one of the towers,so I went outside and I could see everything. As I was watching I saw the other plane hit the other tower, so I packed my tools up and went back to the shop. Everyone was outside watching and I can remember people walking up from Exchange Place, traffic was at a stand still and as we standing the first tower fell and the rest is history...
