LT1 question

Well I just put a 160 degree Theromostat in my 95. Does the housing not use a gasket? Every other motor I have owned has a gasket for the housing and a seal for the Thermostat. The LT1 however does not have a Gasket for the Housing and they couldnt find one at Advance as well. Is it because of the reverse cooling? Or is it suppose to have one? It did not have one on there when I cracked it open.

Technically it's not an o-ring but a flat gasket, built into the thermostat. Many people do not realize this and goop up RTV on the gasket.
