Spec's for 2011 Dodge Challenger leaked
I'm really happy about the V6 and R/T spec's... not too thrilled about the SRT8 spec's.
It's nice to see the V6 breaking the 300+ hp range.... I know the v6 mustang and v6 camaro will run circles around the v6 challenger.... but 300+ HP is nice.
I think the R/T is going to be a great bang for the buck.
The SRT8 shoulda broken the 500 HP mark..... granted.... dodge could be under rating the car. Time will tell.
Here is some more info for ya:

Did they fix the weight issue? like the fact they brought back the 392, that's cool in my books, now bring back the 426 and we'll talk.

OMG.... this is like the question... when is GM brining back the firebird.
I don't expect ANY manufacturer (dodge, GM, of Ford) to go ahead and drop weight on the challenger, camaro or mustang.
Cars weighing in at 4,000 lbs is more common now.... 3500 lbs is in the past..... 3000 lbs just ain't gonna happen.
Sure, the vette is an exception... but that is a strictly performance 2 seater car.

Only reason why is some CEO guy said 0-60 in the 3 second range, no need to get antsy about that statement.

3sec range with a Saturn V on its ass.
The CTS-V has 556 and that does in the 3 sec range. Weight about the same.

The new Pentastar v6 should help the base models get out of their own way now. And the SRT8 will likely be able to keep up with the Camaro SS and Mustang GT now
I wonder what little changes they made to give it the "minor facelift". Should be interesting to see some photos soon.

The 0-60 in 3 second range is just plain stupid - he must have made a mistake because there is no way it will come even close to that.... unless they put a neon in the trunk

heard the only minor face lift was flipping the lower radiator duct. Jalopnik reported it a few months back.

just to be annoying, the new Jaguar XJ weighs less than the outgoing challenger. Many car companies, BMW being the first that comes to mind, are attacking weight as a means to save fuel. They vowed the new 3 series would be 2 or 300 pounds lighter than the current model.
I know I am talking cars in a way higher price bracket, but I just wanted to share what little automotive knowledge I have. That being said, I saw spy shots of the new Charger, and I want that!

Challenger is lighter according to the link you provided - I used the spec's off dodge's site

bah-humbug! I still don't see why there is so much Challenger love on this site, and no love for the Charger. Everytime I see a SRT8 Charger I get weak in the knees. No one else?

The charger is just a let down - the name means excitement... and what we currently have is just plain bland.
I like the new charger.....it is FAR better than the current model.... but it is still kinda bland.

Excitement like this?
Or, like this?
It's funny how people only remember what they want to remember.

Lol, my first car was an '87 Charger. Same exact color and wheels as the one on the right in the picture.

Reminds me of all the GTO haters.
The 04-06 GTO's are not GTO's, but the 74 GTO..that was a keeper.

Not really, GTO from the 60's, and way early 70's, and of 04-06 made some awesome numbers, though the newer ones looked like a fat Grand Prix, but at least it kept to it's muscle car roots in a way.
The Charger's of the 60's and way early 70's, made awesome numbers, had sexy lines, and even starred in a country bumkin show. Charger of the 80's a hatchback with a 1.6 or 2.2, that once madea n appearance on Cannonball Run II. New ones are a 4 door 300C based car. Sorry that's whoring out a name that was once an icon of the musclecar era, then had it's face smashed in a pile of dog **** in the 80's, and when they had a clear chance to bring a pony/muscle car out that should be 2 door, they dropped the ball and made a 4 door sedan with the name slapped on, and then sold it with crazy colors, daytona packaging ( whoring that name out as well from the pickup to the Charger) but in the end, it's not a echo of it's once remembered days of reckoning, its just an alternate solution to people who didnt want to buya station wagon (Magnum).....
Speaking of whoring out a special name GM was doing a pretty good job of that with the SS moniker.

Ah, the new run flat technology I heard they were testing, looks very promising. I bet that thing hooks like a Mother F'r, no wonder why they said it could hit 0-60 in 3 seconds

X body FTW
Oh, and if you want to talk 'screwed history', look at the Malibu. Sure the new one is nice, but it's a Chevy Taurus. Back in the 60's it could be a RWD 396/375 Z16 with 4.11 gears and a 4 speed. I still think the new Mali should be a rebadged G8.

Yep that would be sweet. The malibu was the last GM car to hold true "muscle car lines"

Malibu was just a trim level for Nova till the late 70s.
Malibu is still a midsized car where the G8 is a fullsize. Taurus is also a fullsize now.
You guys and your mythic stories. I tell ya......

Yeah and post Nova it was its own car that has a huge following. The fact still stands about the nameplate.
And your on crack if you think the g8 is a fullsize car. Holden themselves disproved that by offering a longer version of it in saudi markets. A crown vic is a fullsize car, a caprice is a full size car, not a taurus lol.

Mythic stories?
I'm talking about when the Malibu was a trim level for the A-body Chevelle, not the Nova, and the Z-16 cars which were Malibus only.
I can also bitch about how the Impala in its days of greatness got a 425hp 409, 425hp 427, or recently an iron headed LT1 before it got w-bodied and neutered. That's probably better, since the Mali was a non-performance trim option in most years.
