Anyone know anything about A/V? Need help - NJFBOA - Home of New Jersey's Camaros and Firebirds

Ok, well first step is that I am looking for a wireless lav mic, but looking at these prices for "good" ones, they are 500+ for the set up. I'm not looking make broadcasts from the moon, so I keep looking at Sony and Azden. Any experience? Searching on google/youtube has mixed results. The mic would be used for auto shows and reviews and I probably wouldn't be anymore than 15 ft away from the camera.

I need something to plug into a DSLR, as I don't have the most advanced video editing software (Windows Live Movie Maker)

Which DSLR are you using, I know the 5DMkII's require a firmware update to run wireless Lav's, but may have been fixed with some of the newer cameras. At work we haven't really used the wireless Lav's, but we carry them as back ups just in case. Shot gun mikes require an adapter, where as the Lav is a direct plug in. I'll check tomorrow what brand I use at work.

It would be with a Canon t2i. I have looked at a whole bunch of vids on youtube and I might pull the trigger on the sony wcs 999. Reviews say it has a range of about 20 ft or so, depending on what is going on, but the mic that comes with the set up is kinda ****.

macs are probably the best for video editing/rendering. they render so much faster and have a lot more capabilities in the software (final cut pro) than a lot of pc based software uses (pinnacle and sony vegas being the most popular). especially in the case of HD macs shine since some of the HD files can tend to get on the larger side. i have a pretty beast gaming pc and a macbook pro can render circles around my setup. as far as mics the two best bang for your buck brands out there i would use are SHURE and BLUE. the blue snowball and yeti are small and compact and easily setup to capture sound from far away.

i personally use the snowball/pop filter and sound isolator and it works great. no setup required, plug and play with 3 presets on the back for personal recording, music recording and room recording. you can pick them up for under 100 bucks easily

Nasty, I was looking more for a wireless lav mic, something I can pin to me while at autoshows and do reviews.
